grief is what happens when love has no place to go

so i rescued a baby girl!

please meet Maelle or Gyeoul (겨울, winter in Korean as homage to Bomi, my spring baby). she seems to be a lynx point long/medium hair (hopefully she puffs up!) with lots of orange spots on her paws,ears, and bridge of her nose- possibly torbie point?

she is so full of sillies and greed, and she plopped into my life by chance. very excited to see where our future takes us, and please watch her grow from a Creature to hopefully a dignified Lady!! by @kittyfamilee

i am unsure how to start this post. bomi, as many of you know, has been battling many health issues and even more scares with countless vet visits since the day of her adoption four years ago. on Sunday, she had a frightening episode and very quickly worsened within hours. it is with a crushed heart and tearful eyes to announce that we have decided to let her move on. kidney failure is something i could not wish for any cat (especially one as young as she has been), and my last hope is that she remembers how much her brother and I love her. i have many regrets, but choosing to fight for her has never been one. i will always love you, my sweet girl. i am unsure how to navigate my world and how to be me without you. you are the cat that motivated me through all my depressive episodes and kept me alive throughout the times i wished to disappear. i have been so lucky to be yours, and learning to value my own life for the sake of yours is a privilege i can never forget. i will miss the way you chirp at me, beg for my own food, and claim the sofa as your throne. though i know we will meet again, i will miss you from the heavens to the earth until the day we are reunited. by @kittyfamilee

HI it has been sooo long! we are doing great :] though bomi gave mom a scare from a UTI and emergency vet visit, she is actually much more chatty and playful after the medicine and fluids! thank goodness for pet insurance!! HAPPY MEW YEAR 🐈🐈‍⬛ by @kittyfamilee

we saw snow this weekend!!! it was awesome to annoy our butler when she was snowed in at home and steal all her blankets by @kittyfamilee

we got airtag collars! momma is a little worried because it is a unique breakaway rather than traditional breakaway (it stretches fairly easily a few inches from the elastic rather than snapping off), but it seems to be fine! we aren’t too bothered by them, but you can barely tell we have them on! by @kittyfamilee
