forgive me for not knowing
the books in your minds library

forgive me i am still learning
this iterations first go at literation

forgive me for not knowing
the rules and regulations

of how to sip,
how to sit,
or how to stand.

this time around,
we don’t need any more plans

we need devotion to the craft
a space where we can laugh

let ourselves free
be the me’s we want to see
be the me-est me that’s free
from belief to prophecy

see, it starts with me;
the light in the darkness.
no room to be heartless.
regardless, of my state
and condition.

never lose sight of the mission.
and make sure you recognize:
the present is gifted.

“control” (2026) | acrylic on canvas panel

i’m in a season of change, as many of us are, as the seasons are. i’m usually wrestling with feeling like i’m not doing enough and being so tired from doing too much. i’m not sure if i’ve “found” the balance between the two, but i have noticed that in some areas i’m forcing my will. wanting things to go a certain way, knowing that it’s inherent things change, and still not experiencing the embrace.

control takes us out of the present moment. we expect things to be a play by play of what we see in our minds, but where does that leave room for magic? for the universe? for the moment to not only be, but reveal itself to you?

this piece exist in that world. the one where i let go of control allowing mistakes to exist and magic to happen. it’s a culmination of my expression, with all the thoughts swirling around without color, without a label, simply there; with me.

“Influence Reimagined” (2026)

this piece has taught me that sometimes we get the message before we are ready to be the messenger.

this started as a vision in a dream. i woke up and immediately jot it down in my sketchbook (slide 4) i made the first painting shortly after. a few months ago, i thought about this piece and i had the idea to reimagine it, cause who says everything has to be completely new; even your own ideas.

the ability to influence is a gift. when one is using that gift for the greater good, such beautiful things can grow. someone seeing the light in you can change your trajectory as a person, though it takes belief in yourself to let it shine.

“when a bird is caged”

when you cage a bird,
do you become the prey?

never wanting her to fly away
having to feed her every day
showing her affection
finding time to play

somehow that was too much, for you
always telling yourself you’re no good,
how could you deserve a love so true
like karma from a past life;
what did you dooooo

and i don’t fault you,
the voices sometimes
louder than our own

if only you had told me,
you wouldn’t have had
to walk alone

but you do anyway
because the self fulfilling prophecy
would win anyway
because the fear and doubt
would eat you up anyway

swallow you whole
and spit up a man
you claim you
“didn’t know”

i saw it all and still stayed,
but now you’re in the cage
beholden to me and my misery,
because of what you did to me

let some time pass
let the grief get to me
letting go of all you meant to me
letting go of you, gently

with a kiss and a hug
no different than it was
only this time, i’m the one

with the prophecy

the one where i’m free
free to fly,
free to cry,
free to paint my own damn sky

if love is true it’ll always remain
but if a love has caged you
you must not play it’s game
you remember your wings,
and you lose, to gain

“Feminine in Presence” (2026)

this is a special piece for me. it’s the first piece since high school that i’ve had be apart of an art show. and i’m glad it could be apart of @humanheartstudios gala in honor of fallen artist @baibiii_ . despite the heaviness of the circumstance, a lot of love and dedication was put into this show, and you can feel it!

it was a joy to witness others experience this piece. i received so many insights and interpretations, and i felt moved by it all. everyone, when taking in all the art displayed, was simply present.

on opening night i found myself saying “everything is intentional,” and this present moment is no different. with this piece being dedicated to my sister, there are so many words i could use to express what it means to have a connection like ours. and the lyrics“If you’re lost, you can look and you will find me; time after time.“ is one way i can do that. thank you kenya for believing in me, your wisdom & always being yourself!!

for as long as i can,
i will be here for you.

“i will dance in your honor”

you yearn to dance with the wind,
to be one with the air

you escape my capture;
my loose grip not enough to keep you.

and who am i to contain;
you’re meant to be here, then gone.

once a discovery so revolutionary;
now a passage to aroma, to smoke

you dance with the air,
and are one with the wind

you exist in many corners,
many attempts, of containment.

yet, in your many forms,
you are free.

you still dance with the wind,
and you are one with the air.

you remind me, i am not to be
bound by the will of ego.

nor by the needs of another,
but to be here, then gone.

free to dance with the air,
and be one with the wind.

move about as if,
this, isn’t all that there is

knowing that i will be found,
again and again.

reconfigured,
reimagined,
& reborn

yearning to dance with the wind,
and be one with the air
