One simple question to offer as we sit with and get more proximate to the experiences of our "neighbor" - What’s Real?!

:: Vibe Check ::
I've been in a mood. I've felt it deep in my body-- pain, hurt, disappointment, rage and anger in THIS season.
β€’
If I'm honest I'm PISSED!!

 I've shouted "How long Lord?" A few times this week, this month, this year, in deep sorrow about the state of Your people. Imma speak it plainly-- in deep sorrow about racism in this country. In deep sorrow about the brokenness, the absolute dismissal of care by Your body. 😭
β€’
AND I'm reminded, WHAT IS MY WITNESS?! What pictures of God am I showing to the places I have influence in?
β€’
Friends, my heart is heavy. I'm in deep sorrow for the Body of Christ. AND there is a hope. My hope in God causes me to go to the throne room time and time again and seek Him, for His will and His call in this moment from me. How will He use me? Will I be obedient? Will I say yes? WHAT IS MY WITNESS?
β€’
Today my witness is seeking. I'm seeking God, I'm praising Him. Because I know He is moving. I sense it deep within me. πŸ™πŸΎ

:: Hello world, it's me ::
🎼Allow me to reintroduce myself 🎡
πŸ‘‹πŸ½
With an uptick in my following, I think now is as good a time as any to say welcome to some new friends and put some respek on my name for those who are just joining the party and those who have been here.
πŸ‘‹πŸ½
My name is Nakeesha "Keesha" Jeanne Ceran. Yep, you are getting the whole government because my name matters. My day 1s just call me Keesha. My middle name, Jeanne, honors my great grandmother AND fun fact I'm not the only one in my family who has it as their middle name.
πŸ‘‹πŸ½
My life is pretty much an open πŸ“–, but there are parts of my cover that I have the authority to define so that we are all clear on who I am ⏬️:

✝️ I believe in Jesus Christ. I take my identity as a Christ-follower w/ humility. My prayer is that I remain obedient to the will of God. It breaks my heart to see some of the labels the Body of Christ gets, and it's a good reminder of what the reflection of my life says about the image of God. πŸ™πŸΎ

πŸ‡πŸ‡Ή My family line hails from revolution! ✊🏾 If you don't know, you need to.

πŸ’œ Family (blood or chosen) matters deeply. When we are knit, we are knit for life.

✊🏾 I'm revolutionary. I stand for TRUTH, JUSTICE (including REPENTANCE and REPAIR), and RECONCILIATION.

πŸ€“ I'm a lifelong learner. I seek the betterment of myself as much as I seek the betterment of others.

πŸˆβš½οΈπŸ€βšΎοΈ I love sports! Like I REALLY love sports. So much so that sometimes I am compelled to write about it. Check the πŸ”— in my bio.

----
πŸ“Œ If you choose to stay tuned, know that:

✊🏾 I'm an antiracist.
✊🏾 I speak it plainly, which means I pursue life outside of coded language. In this feed, we name things even when that naming might "spur you on to the good works we are called."
✊🏾 I welcome dialogue. I have no room for debate, which also means comment conversations. You know how keyboard courage can get. There is no room for that here. πŸ˜‰
✊🏾 I won't get things right. I may misspeak, or my actions may cause harm, yet I live by the motto #GraceAlways. Have grace for me, I already have it for you. πŸ™πŸΎ

πŸ‘‹πŸ½
Thanks for journeying with me.

I'm observing a lot. I'm lamenting a lot. And I'm holding on to a hope that surpasses all understanding because what my eyes see, what my feelings signal, is challenging to fathom how we got here.

πŸ™πŸΎ I can't bring myself to set this as reality, that billions of Your people, honored and reflected on the greatest sacrifice we will ever know and experience this past weekend, to only turn around and cheer on the continued eradication of those YOU created. πŸ™πŸΎ

You have called us to more than this. And I continue to recognize the choice of words in THE WORD - ". . . THOSE who are . . .," "SOME of you . . ."

Not all of us are called to be bearers of what He needs in certain moments.

To those that are called, are we awake to what He is calling forward for His Glory?! Are we reflecting His heart in our actions.

LORD, HELP! I thank You that Your hand does not go far from Your people. I pray for the lives lost and those who may perish by acts of greed. I pray that You would have mercy on us Jesus, just like You said to our Father on Calvary, "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do."

Forgive us, Lord. by @kjc89

:: Chapter Closed ::
I'll keep this post short, but have some longer words to share at a later date.

Yesterday concluded my term as chair of the @aublackalumnialliance . It's been a fast and furious two years, weathering many changes that our alma mater is experiencing.

One thing that has always remained, I ride for us.

To the BAA Leadership Circle, my fellow #EbonyEagles and the students who will be a part of this beautiful, vibrant, and THRIVING legacy - THANK YOU.

:: A Peace That Cannot Be Taken ::
I, like many, have been I'm awe of the 108-day journey of the @walkforpeace.usa .

As momentum picked up, I was encouraged by the collective attention their moment was receiving, especially as we witness this harsh, harmful, horrid timeline we are living in -- as humans are treated with a lack of dignity here in these United States and many other places around the world.

Maybe this walk would bring the temperature down on polarization within the U.S. politic. Maybe the walk would right the wrongs of injustice en mass.

As the walk neared its final destination here in the D.M.V. and as my alma mater and others hosted the monks, I began to realize collective peace does not come without INNER peace.

I am reminded by the scripture John 14:27 when Jesus promises the disciples and us His Holy Spirit and says, "I am leaving you with a gift-- peace of mind and heart."

In a trying season, I had to fight for the truth that my peace could not be taken, but only given away. It's evermore important to hold on to peace while I witness some of the most careless acts against human beings in my lifetime. In a time when the fight for justice seems so long and wide.

This last year, I have been ending my emails with, " may you find sound peace of mind and heart in the days ahead."

May we all. by @kjc89

On #tdih in 1926 Carter G. Woodson initiated what was known as Negro History Week and what would later become Black History Month.

100 years of lived experiences, centered, affirmed, grounded in historical traditions.
β€οΈπŸ–€πŸ’š

I recently had an opportunity to hear from historian Jarvis Givens on his new book, "I'll Make Me A World: The 100-Year Journey of Black History Month." During his conversation, he articulated that what some deem as "given the shortest month to celebrate heritage" disregards the agency and choice of so many who struggled to uphold these historic traditions. Those like Mary Church Terrell and Carter G. Woodson.

February is a CHOSEN month to celebrate the most Blackity Black Black experiences that have graced time.
