I was already insufferable about this to my friends but it’s Noor and Salem’s birthday today! Two whole years of age happy birthday guys 🫶 Here are their references, which are also uploaded to #artfight (link in my bio)! Lukas is also on the fourth slide but his reference will come later 🤭

I wish I could have made some actual birthday art for em, but commissions are taking up ALL of my free art time. Once those are all finished though, prepare for more of them 😼

‘Perfect Blue’ poster redraw with Salem! Inspired by both the movie itself, and seeing a redraw that @/catboymoments did a couple months back. The hands + blood splatters were VERY heavily referenced, but I’m still super proud of how it turned out!

+ a bunch more absolute zero/salems on the other slides teehee 🤭 I’m also planning on posting the rest of their references throughout the week in preparation for art fight. You can also see my account linked on the last slide >:) Go team fossil!!!

#topoc25 Round 1: Questions and Answers //Team Accomplished Scientists//

For their interview, Iyana insisted that it take place in a setting which ‘highlights their accomplishments’. For obvious reasons, they couldn’t conduct the interview at the hospital, so Eric suggested his small Laboratory room at Carrion University as a backup. It doesn’t really seem like much work has been done there in a while, though…

Slide 1: Is there something you’re horrible at?
Eric: Am I allowed to say keeping a stable job? No, but seriously, I’m horrible with technology. I know, not exactly the thing you want to hear from the space navigator guy, but besides the basics I’m practically useless with most tech. It took me like an entire day to figure out how on earth I was supposed to use the laptop over there.

Slide 2: Your reaction if you did NOT make it into the finale?
Iyana: We’ve been here for what, five minutes, and you’re already asking what we’d feel like if we lose? Doesn’t that seem a bit presumptuous to you? Of course I’d be rightfully upset if we lost, it would bismerch my family name, but I think what we instead should be talking about are our strategies for winning and getting further in the game…

Additional questions:
What are you most proud of:
Eric: I mean, honestly it’s the work I do here, currently. I don’t exactly host a big class or anything, but I like to think that I’m a fairly engaging professor. Or at least, that’s what most students write on their end of year reviews. Either way, it’s a win in my books.

What’s something you are afraid of:
Iyana: If you really must know, what I’m most afraid of is never being able to live up to my families expectations for me. But I should have no trouble doing that, I mean I’m already on the path there.

I’m really cutting it down to the wire this time folks let’s hope this submits on time! by @kkatero

I’m back for another year of #topoc25 ! This year I’m entering two more of my space ocs, Eric (left, he/him) and Iyana (right she/her). They’ll be joining the Hide and Seek guild!

Eric Liu-Salinger (33) might seem like a fairly laid-back teacher’s assistant, but in reality he’s just completely burnt out. His real passion of being a space navigator has been constantly squashed by over-saturation in the field, his chronic pain in his left hand non withstanding. Still, he’s hopeful that one day he can finally get aboard a spacecraft and seek his real dream of being truly content with himself and his work. Maybe an accident involving the potential collision of the most successful spaceship in the world might change that?

Iyana Mnyandu (29) is a recent addition to the field of aeromedicine, although her toughest challenge yet is allegations of nepotism. With a world widely renowned father and young prodigy elder sister, her moderate success seems to taper in comparison. And the overcompensation and underlying pity she gets from her family have done nothing to ease her tension. In response, Iyana puts up a very tough front and acts like she always knows exactly what’s she’s doing, and would love nothing more than to hide from the insecurity that always bites at her heels whenever she’s unsure of herself in a situation.

Their joint name is “Team Accomplished Scientists”. I’ll let you take a guess at who chose that name for the both of them.

I love the absolute zero universe guys they take up so much of my brain space… you’ll probably be getting them next year as well I can’t stop myself

I’m a little late to the party on this one but this game emotionally wrecked me! Mouthwashing is genuinely one of my favourite horror games I’ve seen in a while it kept me hooked the whole way through. I love the character designs as well and wanted to try my hand at a couple of them

On an unrelated note, I’ve officially opened an Etsy for commissions! The link is in my bio if anyone is interested, the shop handle is also the same as my Instagram handle :)

🪐 @top.oc Round 1 - Left in the Wild 🪐

Although living in a technologically driven world does have its perks, it doesn’t tend to prepare people for the dangers of camping in nature. While this sort of scenario isn’t really Noor or Salem’s typical scene, it’s definitely not the biggest change of pace that either have faced whilst living in space. Salem’s grateful to get to know the other contestants regardless of setting, while Noor’s content to do without the crowds, but recognises them as useful in keeping everyone safe. However, after the clamour from being relocated has settled, there’s definitely going to be an adjustment period in settling down for the night.

The initial discord of the situation sent Salem into overdrive. As a prime space explorer (to-be) she knows that the best thing to do when faced with an unfamiliar environment is to start planning: scoping out the environment, thinking about potential dangers, mapping out what is possibly edible, you name it. She’s pulled out a notebook and a sparkly pen from her supplies, and has gotten to work by mapping out the locations of things around the campground. Her flowers from auditions have been left forgotten, as there is admittedly little use for them when the forest is covered in endless flora.

On the other hand, Noor is a lot less panicked. With all of the contestants hanging around the same general area, she’s realised that the situation isn’t really that dire. For her part, however, she’s fished out a couple of old batteries from her pocket-toolkit, and is in the process of booting up an old flashlight she packed in her bag (for just-in-case situations). In fact, she’d probably have it working already if she wasn’t so distracted by her girlfriend’s reaction to the whole situation…

I’m a little sad I had to use my extension early, but exam season has been killing me slowly! I’m going to be much more timely with my future entries I promise

🪐Team Astronautics🪐
For my fifth year of @top.oc , I’m entering my favourite pair of tragic space lovers, Salem (left, she/her) and Noor (right, she/her)! The two of them are entering the Silver Key guild while on a break from their usual escapades in space! They come from a universe whose technology has allowed for human expansion into outer space, although it remains limited to our singular solar system (for now).

Growing up in a period of time where the boundaries of space are constantly being explored, Salem Petrakis’s lifelong dream is to become a space cadet, and reach the furthest corners of the universe. Unfortunately, since space travel HAS become so frequent, the job market has become overinflated with people of similar aspirations- leaving her out of employment for the foreseeable future. Although she’s struggling to find work in order to help keep her and her girlfriend financially stable, Salem remains a passionate and hopeful woman, who won’t let anything stand the way of her goals; even if it means applying for dubiously legal exploration jobs.

On the other hand, Noor Daher is much more interested in the technology involved in space travel. Although she’s less socially inclined than her partner, Noor has made a decent name for herself as a freelance engineer. She uses the entirety of her funds to both support her and her girlfriend, and work on her passion project, a sentient robotic cat which Salem has lovingly named “Gizmo”. Although she can have a bit of a bite at times, Noor is fiercely loyal, and ironically down to earth in a universe where everyone has their head in the stars.

For props, Salem’s brought a bouquet of flowers from her and Noor’s garden, which is her biggest pride and joy outside of anything space related, although they’re starting to wilt from the time it took to travel to the contest from literal space. Noor brought with her a set of tools that she haphazardly shoved into her pockets! Usually she would carry them in a toolbox, but Salem insisted that her glaring red toolbox would contrast with the guild aesthetic; so she’s left it at home just this once.
