Hello, I’m Kateryna and I am Ukrainian.

That is me on the left. And also me on the right. Or it could have been me.

Every second I feel pain, I feel nauseous.
Pictures I see, stories I hear and read, it cannot be forgotten nor forgiven. My aunt with her family was shot at when they were trying to escape Irpin, but they were lucky to escape and they are alive.

Every day with my mom we discuss that any second it could’ve been one of us or anyone we know.

No, there’s nothing much to say. I wish no one would ever experience of genocide of your people, of your country. Ever. But I am experiencing it now every second.

Kyiv & Hostomel on March 5th - March 17th, 2023

A few days ago satellite pictures on Google maps were updated and I just can’t stop looking on these maps. Feels very surreal. I still can’t believe in what I see with my own eyes and I refuse to understand the scale.
And then today my lovely friend @kati_lpt sent me some pictures of her beautiful project in Kyiv that I was lucky to be a part of.

All this made me realise that I forgot to post the pictures from my visit to Ukraine so here they are:
1. Statue of Volodymyr the Great (ruler of Kyivan Rus, person who century)
2. Funicular station. The unique stained glass is protected from shelling with wooden decks by my lovely friends @map_renovation
3. Metro station ‘Golden Gate’ aka ‘Zoloti Vorota’
4. One of my favourite buildings
5. My absolute favourite - Zhitniy Market in Podil district. Literally the first place I visited after the arrival
6. Bombed shopping mall in Hostomel
7. Random anti-tank hedgehogs
8. K41 is still the best place in the world
9. RESPECT MY BORDERS entrance stamp

I can’t (and I won’t) fully express my experience, thoughts and emotions in this IG post but I just want to remember my trip home

Summer thoughts I’ve been collecting lately:

Being a woman is a universal experience;
Girlhood transcends / borders / cultures / time / languages;
I understand it from talking to women and girls around me and ~especially~ from experiencing art and reading books;
It feels like a beehive; like a collective mind;

Here is my inspo recap from June-July (not in any particular order):
- Virginia Woolf ‘Three Guineas’ and ‘Room of one’s own’;
- Tracey Emin’s exhibition at Tate (on motherhood and sех;
- Alona Karavai’s ‘unboxing’ at Biblioteka (experiencing in the moment);
- Travels with my girlfriends; visiting them and discovering new things together;
- Gossip girl (mainly Serena van der Woodsen as a concept);
- Frida Kahlo’s exhibition at Tate;
- Nails dresses and handbags;
- Ana Mendieta’s exhibition at Tate.
