What. A. Week. Early morning and late evening rounds are the best. New friends, new fairways, more search and rescue golf ball finds and absolute utter peace and serenity. This morning while I was rehearsing the week in my mind, I find a not forced smile on my face and deep gratitude bubbling in my heart. I’m so thankful. I’ve learned so much. Golf is fascinating. It teaches you to fail properly. You can’t chase your last bad shot. Each swing is its own isolated individual event. Wherever your ball lands, whether it was luck or a bad bounce, whether the wind helped or hurt, whether you flushed it or thinned it, you are there. That is your “now” shot, and in that moment, it’s the only shot that matters. Just pull the club and take your shot. It teaches you to recover from not ideal situations, to learn from failures and overcome them, to painfully realize you aren’t and never will play a perfect round. I’ve learned that horrible swings can produce incredible outcomes and my best swing can find the water. It’s about being there. Being present. Whatever swing you brought to the course that day is the one you are playing with so make good decisions with what you have. My hope, is to be able to translate these golf lessons into life learning. I got to play with a fella I’ve known since I was 10 years old. We grew up together. We obnoxiously blared 80’s music and laughed at and with each other as story after story were told about the people and place that we called home for the better part of our childhood. It’s always wonderful to have friends that no matter the time or distance you pick up exactly where you left off. We had a blast. I’m beloved by the one that created everything. He delights in me. He enjoys my company. He smiles when I do dumb things. He encourages me to get up when I fall down. He likes to go golfing with me (probably doesn’t much like my country cussing at the golf ball though, but oddly enough I think he chuckles a bit). I have His peace, not the outcome of whatever circumstance I find myself in. I have His joy, even when times are hard. I have His righteousness, when I’m doing great and when I could do better. I’m blessed and have a favored seat at His table. All I have to do is listen and lean in. How can life truly be better? by @kldelp

I remember those days - Reading countless books and answering endless questions, yet all the while continually praying the Father would forge you into an incredible man, friend and husband.
