You guys, these gorgeous curtain panels gifted to me from @twopagescurtains brought this entire room together.

Last summer our house had multiple plumbing disasters which forced is into a huge renovation. So when TWOPAGES reached out to partner I was thrilled!

This is our main living space where we love to watch movies as a family, so blackout lining was a must. Not to mention, the sun sets on all those windows and these curtains keep out the light AND the heat. Win, win!

If you’ve been with me for a while, then you know that last year this house put me and my husband, through a lot. But, we came out victorious in the end. We turned a nightmare of home disasters into a dream come true. This house tried to break us, but we pulled up our sleeves, got our hands dirty, built this entertainment center from scratch and came out feeling like champions!

There is no greater way, or more budget friendly way to transform a space than with the power of paint. Now, I’ve painted a lot of cabinets at this point…like, A LOT and it’s not as scary as you might think. If you follow these easy steps (without skipping any) you will get fabulous results. So, go for it!

And keep following to see the reveal of my latest project, the DIY Entertainment Center.

Our very first time making shaker doors and I think we did a pretty good job! #homeinprogress #diyhomeimprovement #diyhomeprojects #diycabinets #easydiy by @km_homeinprogress

This was our first time building drawer boxes and I think we nailed it. We installed them inside the cabinet boxes with soft-close drawer glides from Amazon. Now, we’re ready to make the drawer fronts and cabinet doors. We’re so close to seeing this DIY Entertainment Center complete, so keep following along! #homeinprogress #diyhomeprojects #buildinghome #diyhomeimprovement by @km_homeinprogress

If you’ve been following along in stories then you know that my paint sprayer broke a couple projects back. That meant we had to paint this giant entertainment center by hand. Luckily everyone helped with the paint and teamwork made the dream work. I love the color, Accessible beige! It works perfectly with the rest of the colors in our home and it’s the perfect neutral without being white. Next up are the drawers and cabinet doors. This thing is finally almost finished! Keep following to see how it all turns out. #diyhomeprojects #entertainmentcenter #homeinprogress #familyroom by @km_homeinprogress

I know I keep saying this, but let me say it again for the people in the back…YOU HAVE TO PRIME BEFORE YOU PAINT! Yeah, I know. I dot. Want to do it either, but you just have to. And if you think that’s annoying, you also need to lightly sand the primer before you paint your actual color. I prime it’s worth it. I chose Sherwin Williams, Accessible Beige. Coming up next so keep following along with me! #accessiblebeige #paintedcabinets #diyhomeprojects #homeinprogress by @km_homeinprogress

DIY TIP: Don’t worry if your DIY home project looks a little rough before it’s painted. “Putty and caulk make a carpenter what they are not.” Or something like that. Basically, do the best you can and then fill in all the gaps with flexible, paintable caulk. It seriously makes all the difference. Your project will look much more professional and finished, so don’t skip this step. #homeinprogress #diyhomeprojects #girlswithtools #easydiy #diyhomeimprovement by @km_homeinprogress

I made it through Christmas! I know I’ve been lagging on posting the update reels, so I’m getting back at it. #homeinprogress #diyhomeprojects #diyhome #girlswithtools #diyhomeimprovement by @km_homeinprogress

After carefully picking out the straightest boards we could find, we trimmed out the exposed plywood edges with 1x2 inch pine. The entertainment center is far from finished, but it’s already looking so much better.

Stay tuned for Part 4. I’m going to be adding some detail and charm in the form of vertical shiplap paneling. It’s going to be good!

The entertainment center is taking shape! We added 2 shelving towers and a large box/ shelf above the TV. Now, it’s time to add some detail and trim to this baby. Stay Tuned for Part 3.
