Red: “Ossian, we can’t believe you’re a first-grader!” Ossian: “I’m not a first-grader, I’m a summer-vacationer!” by @kmaron43
Best day ever! If you’re running, we will be cheering for you in Fort Greene - mile 8, just past BAM, look to the left as you run by South Elliott Place - I’m headed to church past the calm before the excitement. Look for Red, Ossian, and Ossian’s big yellow finger! Congrats to all who are running in the greatest city in the world. We love you! by @kmaron43

Had a wonderful time last weekend with these friends in an all-Bach program with @princetonpromusica thank you @ryanjbrandau and @kjlitvack and congrats to all! 🩵🍁👏🏻😊 by @kmaron43
Always a pleasure to sing Bach in Princeton! Here for a morning dress rehearsal for @princetonpromusica - the concert is tomorrow afternoon at 4pm. This band sounds spectacular playing Brandenburg 3 (led by @aisslinnviolin 👏🏻🙏🏻🩵) Really hoping that Ossian is inspired to practice cello more after hearing this incredible piece tomorrow. 😂 #bachtoberfest by @kmaron43
Run, do not walk, to see Lincoln in the Bardo. We just had the pleasure of watching the dress rehearsal and I say (without too much hyperbole, although being a huge fan of George Saunders AND of old friends @rvavrek and @missymazzoli and @srosgood ❤️) that this was the best contemporary opera adaptation I have ever seen. A complete triumph. The story is deeply emotional and richly layered, set over a backdrop of the American Civil War, told with pathos, tragedy, and above all, the absurdity of our human lives. The staging and puppetry was brilliant. A new world was created. The score and singing and characterization were brilliant, too. Missy’s orchestration visceral and rapturous. Congrats to all involved. This is a celebratory moment - what music and story-telling can do. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️ (thank you for the tix @mikki.sodergren and congrats @metoperachorus !!) by @kmaron43
🤩👏🏻💜 Can’t wait to read this book about one of my favorite artists, written by a fellow Eastman alum who was a doctoral student with me around 20 years ago! I reference Jan DeGaetani when I’m teaching and I think about her when I’m practicing on a regular basis. Her recording of Schoenberg’s Hanging Gardens with Gil Kalish is extraordinary. This is inspiring. Huge congrats and respect @annmezzod on the publication of this important book! Proud to know you. #mezzosoprano #jandegaetani #eastman @eastman.school by @kmaron43
Friends and Neighbors! Einstein on the Beach is coming back to BAM in November in the form of 50th Anniversary concerts! (Last time was 2012, or 14 (!!) years ago.) I’m thrilled to be a part of this iteration — especially since I now live a few blocks away and walk by BAM daily — with many colleagues who were part of the tour in 2012-15 and previous decades. Hope to see you there and let me know if you come so that I can say hello! @bam_brooklyn @philipglassensemble @philipglass @lucindachildsofficial @bob___wilson #einsteinonthebeach by @kmaron43
This is a near and dear one. Friends who are voting members of the Recording Academy, I invite you to count this among your GRAMMY® “For Your Considerations” in the category of Best Choral Recording. We poured a lot of love into five beautiful pieces, written in recent years for the @desertchorale by @shawnokpebholo @jocelynhagenmus @reenaesmail @shawnkirchner22 and @kilesmithmusic; the album features @salazarnate and @sutanusur with gorgeous solos by @savannahporter_ @edmundmilly @marquesjruff and @chelseahelmsoprano ❤️👏🏻🌈 #grammys #choralmusic #americanchoralmusic #santafe #landofenchantment by @kmaron43
What a spectacular and fun night we had last week - celebrating the decades of choral and musical excellence of @voascension ! The venue was gorgeous (thank you, @boweryhotel_events )There were friends and colleagues from wide and far. Friends from the Met, Lincoln Center, Higher Ed, @loreleiensemble (!) @brooklynartsongsociety @heartbeat_opera and so so many wonderful people who believe in the power and value of music in our society. I loved curating an eclectic program - celebrating the breadth of styles and composers who we love - and bringing together some of my favorite artists to bring beauty into the room. (@nicomuhly 🙏🏻❤️) It was magical to have @mezzograham performing with us. Thank you @jon.bradley108 for asking me to be a part of things in this way. I feel deeply grateful for Voices of Ascension, which has been a longtime home for me in NYC; and more importantly for the wider community we have in vocal and choral music. Let’s keep keeping on!! #galaseason #music #classicalmusic #nyc by @kmaron43

I suppose the only times I’m Katherine anymore are when my Mom gets annoyed at me and this Yale ID. 😂 Regardless, I’m so happy to be headed up to New Haven on this beautiful Fall day to work with a new cohort of conducting students. I learn so much from them, come to care for them deeply, and I hopefully give them a few bits of useful information. Thinking of the students I’ve worked with over the last five years (!!) and sending you all love. 🙏🏻 @yaleism by @kmaron43
