I still can’t believe it, but of all people, I was invited back to my high school, the same high school where I fell in love with journalism, and was asked to talk to the students, and they even surprised me and honored me for my work.

Who would’ve ever thought I’d be doing something so serious and cool? It was a great moment telling the kids how I overcame low self-esteem, worked my way out of special education classes, and overcame a learning disability to become a journalist, and surprisingly the kids were impressed with my story.

While everyone knows my mama is the biggest blessing and cheerleader in my life, the woman in the first two pictures is a close second.

In life, you’ll meet someone who will change your life forever, and in 2010, it was this woman right here. Ms. P, I still can’t figure out why you cared so much about me with 4,000 other students in the school, but boy, am I happy you did. You met a hopeless, silly 14-year-old just trying to get by and poured into me daily.

From laughing at all my jokes and stories, talking me out of dropping out of school, to our daily hugs in the hall, or simply always having an “open ear and door policy,” I don’t know if a thank you and an “I love you” are enough. But I love you and thank you.

I remember before graduation, I told you, Ms. P, I’m scared of what’s next. I don’t have a game plan after I cross this stage. You told me I know you’re down on yourself and feel lost, but I really wish you could see yourself through my eyes, because all I see is a young man with more promise and talent than even he realizes, and one day everyone will know my Mr. Hyde.

While I’m still figuring this life thing out, we can at least say we’ve come a long way.

I love you, Ms. P!!!!

This week, the big news for the Dolphins was Tua's return from concussion protocol. While Tua and the offense had spurts of dominance, they couldn't put away the Cardinals and fall to 2-5 on the season. by @kmhyde5

I had to read the name a few times to make sure they sent this award to the right person. Who would’ve ever thought after 26 years, I would win my first award? I want to congratulate my amazing coworkers on our great teamwork and coverage of the Kentucky tornadoes. I know this is a small achievement, but it means the world to me because I often second guess myself and wonder if my work is good enough, and things like this serve as a reminder that you're doing alright after all. by @kmhyde5
