Not every photo needs to be beautiful.

Some of the ones I keep coming back to are the ones where someone’s mid-laugh and their eyes are closed. Where a kid is covered in something they shouldn’t be. Where no one is looking at the camera and everyone is looking at each other.

📸 There’s a version of photography that exists purely for the grid curated, polished, optimized. And there’s nothing wrong with that. But it’s not why I picked up a camera.

I picked it up because I wanted to hold onto things. The ordinary Tuesday. The way a room sounds when everyone you love is in it. The moment right before everything changes, when you didn’t even know that’s what it was.

these two wanted disco balls. so they had disco balls. everywhere.

pink and green linens, a mirrored helmet for the dance floor, vows in front of the collegiate peaks with the wind doing its own thing and somehow none of it felt like “too much.” it felt like exactly enough, because it was theirs.

more couples should know this is allowed. you don’t have to pick a safe aesthetic off pinterest and call it a day. you can build a day that actually looks like you and still have it be tasteful, still make your parents cry happy tears.

this one ended in sparklers, right after they got lifted into the air by twenty of their closest friends. as it should.
if you’ve got an idea that feels “too much” it’s probably the right one.

These are the words that stay with me long after the wedding day is over.

That’s what I’m after. Not just beautiful images, but the ones that make you catch your breath because they’re so completely, undeniably ✨ yours. ✨

The tears during the father-daughter dance. The way your best friend looked at you from across the room. The toast that made everyone lose it.

Those moments happen fast, and they don’t announce themselves - but they’re the ones you’ll want back someday.

⁣These two couldn’t even get through their first look without happy tears, standing right along the Arkansas River before they even made it to the Ivy Courtyard. That’s the kind of love that sets the tone for a whole day.

Colorful guest outfits, a pre ceremony cocktail hour, grapes cascading down reception tables, incredible food, and not one but multiple Colorado rainstorms that they laughed straight through.

Some couples are just so ready for each other. Veronica and Josh were absolutely those people. ✨

There is no one who looks the way you do when you laugh at something that catches you off guard.

No one who holds their child quite the way you do. No one whose hands tell the same story yours do.

👉 We spend so much time measuring ourselves against images that were never meant to be a standard and in doing so, we miss something important.

You are not a before. You are not a comparison. You are the whole thing, right now, exactly as you are.

📸 When you stand in front of my camera, I’m not looking for a version of you that matches something I’ve seen before. I’m looking for the version of you that only exists today in this light, in this season of your life, with these people beside you.

Some of my favorite images come from the sessions where I actually get to know someone.

I’ve been building out what I’m calling long form storytelling sessions. 2 to 3 hours where we move through locations that actually mean something to you, not just somewhere pretty. More time together means the real stuff comes out. The inside jokes, the way you move around each other, the quiet moments that say everything.

With Megan & Andrew we started at home with their dog Maisie who if you know their story is basically where everything began. She got a puppy, he was the neighbor upstairs who helped out while she was at work, and somewhere between dog walks and getting drinks together she knew she’d be really sad if this man ever dated someone else. We then wandered through the library because these two have a daily reading ritual curled up on the couch together (he’s getting his PhD in mathematics) and we finished outside the Denver City & County Building.

What got me about their story is that Andrew has this quiet gentleness that made Megan feel like someone was finally in her corner. And when it came to the proposal he had been holding onto the ring for weeks waiting for the right moment and it ended up being a random Sunday morning she thought was just brunch with friends.

That is the kind of story I want to document. If you have been thinking about wanting more out of your engagement photos my inbox & my heart is open to create something deeply meaningful. My couples matter to me. Their stories matter. This isn’t just a career it’s something that gives my life meaning.
