I took this improv video the week before I started back at work. Physically, I was exhausted. Emotionally, I had reached what felt like a new low at the time. My heart was broken and aching. What is love? Ever present, but not always felt. When did everything get so heavy? So much grief. How am I supposed to let go? I felt depleted. Even so, there was a huge part of me that was excited and determined to tackle what was next for me. I had a lot of things that I was ready to say and share through my art. Little Kali was hungry again.🥹

On my second day back at work, I suffered a relatively minor injury while dancing something that I loved. I kept pushing through until I literally couldn’t anymore, which wasn’t wise and was being reflected in many areas of my life. Up until this point I’d been lucky enough to have never experienced an injury that I wasn’t able to work through, let alone one that took me away from work. I’m grateful that it was only for a few weeks. Regardless, I was beside myself. My body had never “failed” me before. Big lesson there; you can plan all you want and bulldoze through your limits, but at the end of the day your body has the ultimate say. Listen.

Peace. Balance. Ease. Love. It’s what my body needed as much as my mind and soul did. I’ve been healing much more than just my Achilles and will continue to do so. With great grief came great love, and vice versa. Love was there when I needed it the most. Seemingly out of nowhere. In the most unexpected of ways. Love and grief had always gone hand in hand. My heart still aches ✨and✨ I’m grateful I’m able to feel everything so deeply and make sense of all of this.
