Esko was stubborn in all the best ways, and one of the kindest souls I’ve ever known. He loved gardening, fish and chips, watching me work, and relentlessly making fun of my terrible cooking skills, which, to be fair, he wasn’t wrong about. 😅🤣
During the COVID lockdowns, when he was nearing the end of his life, the nursing staff knew how much we meant to each other and let me come hold his hand one last time. I’ll never forget that kindness. ♥️
I think of him often, especially on sunny garden days like this. Some people leave such a steady, gentle mark on your life that time never really removes them.
