We just wrapped up a fun one for Gatlin’s Mirror Maze in Pigeon Forge.

Their mirror maze has been entertaining guests for over a decade, so the real challenge was: how do you add something new to an attraction that already works, create more replay value, and open up a new upsell without messing with what’s already great?

Enter the SOS Survival Game.

We built the whole experience around the maze’s existing stranded island theme. Guests grab an RFID wristband, pick a game at the kiosk, then head into the maze to track down interactive “Boops” hidden throughout the attraction. Depending on which game they choose, what they’re looking for and how they play completely changes.

We worked closely with the Gatlin’s team to take the idea from concept all the way through installation. Together we worked through the gameplay and guest experience, while our team handled the graphics, custom electronics, programming, kiosks and interactive hardware that bring it all to life.

Two game modes are live at launch, but we built this thing to keep growing. New games can be added, more Boops can be dropped into the attraction, and new game logic can be created without starting from scratch.

Behind the scenes, it’s also pulling analytics on how guests actually play. Completion times, incorrect scans, abandoned games, and more. That gives the operator real data to see what’s working and fine-tune the experience over time.

Posted by • @fkbstudio For @nft__nyc 2022, FKB partnered with Cool Cats and Media Monks to transform a vacant retail store in Manhattan into Cooltopia, a fully-immersive experience that educates and entertains guests as real-life players before downloading and playing the digital version of the game.

Designed for fabrication, constructed, and finished in Philadelphia and installed in NYC for one week only, this 30,000-square-foot venue takeover was filled with 3D-printed Cool Cats and Cool Pets and custom-fabricated Cooltopia locations—as well as a number of real-time NFT displays, including user-created avatars.
