The walls got a lick (I say a lick, it took four bloody coats) of paint yesterday ready to shoot some pieces for a very exciting exhibition. This work also got a little re-worked…

Liv and Myself would like to say a huge THANK YOU to @strangecargoart for opening the doors to such a beautiful and accessible space. You truly are an organisation that creates a fantastic platform for all artists. It’s a special gallery with a big heart.

We’d also like to thank everyone who came and visited the exhibition and talk. We’re often alone in our studios, so it’s great to get the opportunity to share our thoughts and processes with you all.

And last but by no means least, thank you to all the artists for entrusting us with your incredible works. What a privilege to have the honour of hanging it all. It’ll be a show to remember.

Let’s talk!
Today is the final day of 'Revellious’
Join us from 2-4pm for our talk at @strangecargoart
with curators Liv Pennington & @knightpainter and artists @ceri_elliston @suzanneohaire and Lucy Renton.
Ask the questions and join in discussing all things Revellious, whilst gaining insight to our individual practices. It’s sure to be a fantastic discussion.

‘Revellious’ is an exhibition of 12 contemporary artists whose practices embrace materiality
as an act of joy, excess, and resistance. Drawing on the word’s origins in festivity and
expressive excitement, the works presented revel in surface, texture, and process—celebrating the physical intelligence of materials while refusing restraint. Clay, fabric, pigment, found matter, and bodily gesture become sites of pleasure and insistence, where making is both labour and celebration. These artists approach material not as neutral substance, but as something animated, unruly, and alive with history.
Rhyming with rebellious, Revellious positions material engagement as a quietly defiant force. Against systems that have historically minimized women’s labour and tactile knowledge, the exhibition foregrounds practices that are exuberant, excessive, and unapologetically sensorial.

Festivity here is not frivolous; it is strategic. Through acts of making that are boisterous, playful, and richly embodied, the artists assert presence, agency, and delight—reclaiming materiality as a space of both pleasure and power.

A tricky one to capture both metaphorically and physically. I’ll get a better photo when she’s back in my studio…
