— ‘Continental Shift’ — A bittersweet moment! Today is the first day of the academic term @psuarchitecture and the first such occasion since I retired in July. — This collage is the last one I’ll ever make in my office in Shattuck Hall, my work place for the last 32 years, and the birth place of the School of Architecture I founded. I made it last week while clearing out my office. — It references 1994, the year I emigrated from the UK to take up a professorship in what was the Department of Art at that time. — I’m happy to be able, now, to dedicate all my time to studio practice in collage and printmaking, but it is not without anxiety at a certain loss. I absolutely loved working with students, their imaginations never failed to excite and challenge me every single day.
