I have so many turquoise clothes that it’s basically become a neutral in my closet, which I have no complaints about.

This is the #kewdress — I made it a couple years ago (and wore it to my high school “graduation” during the first COVID summer) and it’s been well loved since then, although it’s one of those garments where I can still see all the errors I made because it was early on in my sewing journey. I made a million alterations to get it to fit right, but it’s been so long I don’t remember them all — I just know it involved multiple muslins and a lot of tears :). I remember adjusting the bodice darts for a smaller bust, lengthening the torso a little, and adjusting how it fit at the sides.

The rest of the outfit is a thrifted button down and my beloved turquoise crocs — some of my friends have strong feelings about these crocs with this dress (*cough cough* you know who you are), but I love them and I think they complete the outfit so if you don’t like ‘em keep the hate to yourself ☺️

I included a shot of me attempting to throw leaves, and the last photo is, of course, a crocs shot :)

Just some mirror selfies for today!

This is a handmade dress courtesy of my mother — it’s the True Bias #roscoedress. She made it and then deemed it a little too interesting to be a work dress, so now it’s mine. It’s been a big hit at college :)

Dress is layered over yet another #sukibodysuit (I told you I’ve made a million of these haha).

Don’t ask me why I’m holding my phone differently in every photo cuz I honestly don’t know 😅

Funky pants!

I made these pants a couple years ago and they’ve held up well considering that I’ve worn them a LOT.
They’re #S1887 and I think I ended up adding an inch to the crotch length right below the waistband (as I do with almost all pants patterns now, I have a weirdly long torso) as well as adding another inch or so to make them high waisted.

I made the bodysuit as well! It’s the #sukibodysuit by @isainstitches, and at the time I first sewed it I think it was a free pattern! Go check her out she’s lovely. I’ve sewn a million of these and I’ll sew a million more because they’re just so practical — I layer them under all my summer dresses in the fall and winter.

Last couple photos are mirror selfies cuz it was a good mirror (even if there is a toilet keeping me company in the pics lol) and one is a closeup of one of my favorite pairs of earrings! Yes they are real books 📕

Buttons!!! This bustier top was formerly a button-down shirt, so I salvaged the button band and used it on the back as the closure.

The second photo is me looking very dramatic against a fantastic backdrop, I feel like it’s giving vampire vibes but lmk if y’all have other ideas lol 😈🦇

Fall is the perfect season for layers, and you’ll be able to tell very quickly that I’m obsessed with making and wearing bustier tops ☺️

This is another #rosecafebustier, layered over a #M8030. This is a dress I’ve made two times so far and I absolutely love the cut of it; it’s very flattering for a shirt dress. I’m also just obsessed with anything button down, as you’ll also come to see :)

I made very few alterations to the dress (I think I graded from a small to a medium at the waist but that was it) and none to the top! It was an incredibly simple fitting process for such a complex top.

I was working against both the wind and the fact that I was taking self-timer photos with no tripod today, so if the photos are somewhat lacking, that is why — but I think I did ok considering the circumstances lol

Edit: I’m realizing some of the photos didn’t post! I’ll make a second post to show off the buttons on the back :)

I’ve been meaning to post on this account for ages, and now seems like the perfect time to do so for various reasons!!

But first of all, my name is Clara, and this is my knitting and sewing account! At this point I knit or sew 70% of my clothes, and I’m excited to share my makes (both current and past) with you :)

I recently completed this #rosecafebustier top, and embroidered the top with a bunch of lyrics by my favorite band, the incredible @snailmail

I had the honor of wearing it to her concert at the anthem in DC, where the lovely @madalyns.photos got this wonderful photo of me!!

Then on top of that, through the strange magic of the universe, I met someone at school who’s family member is in the band, and long story short she was able to send a photo of my shirt to Lindsey Jordan (snail mail’s lead singer) who posted it on their Instagram story. So hopefully I’ll be able to let her know who I am by @ing the snail mail account :). And Lindsey, if you’re reading this and you’re interested, I’d love to make an embroidered top for you!! Feel free to DM me if so :)
