My mother had a benign tumor removed from the lining of her brain almost 3 weeks ago. It has been quite the journey, and will continue to be for some time. From aphasia to seriously low oxygen and an ambulance ride back to the hospital—having a shaved head to putting up with her family telling her to take it easy—Mom has taken things in stride. Even the hard things. When she can’t talk she smiles and her eyes sparkle—not because it is easy, but because she chooses to try and make life more pleasant for all those around her. I will never forget the moment I asked Mom if she was okay and she said with deliberate effort, “I am thankful for my life.” I hope that I, too can be thankful for my life every day. It is both the good stuff and the challenging stuff that makes it life. In the end I want to find the joy in the journey. #mom #brainsurgery #joyinlife #greatexample by @knitcandice
