This is Jeanne Baret. She was the first woman to complete a voyage circumnavigating the globe, dressed as a man in 1766. Under the constant threat of being discovered, she was the trips official Botantist and is credited for hundreds of discoveries which can now be found in museums in France.

Driven by a childhood dream, Raven Wilkinson broke classical dance barriers in 1955 to become the first African-American woman signed to a major ballet company. Despite facing intense racial prejudice while touring, she maintained her pride and went on to enjoy a dazzling international career with the Dutch National Ballet.
What an incredible woman

I'm currently recovering from hand surgery but before I had my operation, I managed to complete this cutie for @ellyhyacinth as a Hen party gift (again, sorry I couldn't be there). Can't wait for the wedding in October ❤️👰🏼‍♀️🤵‍♂️🦩

Gifts based on real life things are seriously difficult but I'm so pleased with how this car came out. SWIPE ➡️ to see the inspiration!!

An amazing colleague recently retired and he is obsessed with his beautiful vintage car so ofcourse, I had to make him a yarn version!!

This is Gertrude Ederle. She was an American Olympic champion and world record-holder in five events. In 1926, she became the first ever woman to swim across the English Channel. Before the historic swim she said "I’m not sure I’ll make it, but I’ll try my best".
All her life she had severe hearing loss, and by older life she was almost completely deaf. She spent her retirement teaching deaf children to swim.
A truly incredible woman
