Wild Pictou Island rosehips infusing grapeseed oil. The rosehips were dehydrated and the loose seeds went into the mortar for about of pestle action before moving into the jar. Now we wait. 🌜🌝🌛 by @knitwitchery

Finally made a batch of fire cider after pondering it for a couple of years. I got a couple of Rosemary Gladstar's books to learn how to do it. Full ingredient list in that big jar: horseradish, garlic, ginger, onion, jalapeno, cayenne, turmeric, rosemary, thyme, oregano, clove, cinnamon, black pepper, and mustard seed, raw apple cider vinegar. Shaking it daily until it's time to strain it. Slainte!! by @knitwitchery

August weekend on Pictou Island included finding that my dead hedge has provided a safe space to grow for the Dewberries (Rubus hispidus), a relative of blackberry. The vines make their way through the grass of the field but right here at the dead hedge they traveled over it. The log base of the DH provides shelter so the roots won't dry out and gave something for the vining habit to scramble over. My blue Vervain returned this year!! Small but so pretty. I checked on the Serviceberry (amelanchier) sapling that Richard cut off and it's coming back! As is the Culvers Root. Lastly, the garden produced the first ripe tomato of the season. San Marzano are not very big compared to the Amish Paste that I have planted the last couple of years.

Rainy July day on Pictou Island. Cosmo and his best buddy Finn got to spend time together playing and hanging out, and Cosmo also chose to relax in his favourite spot to lounge outside. It's dirty and lumpy and full of bark and wood pieces. I fail to see the allure, but then again I am not a Corgi boy 🤷
Our window seat cushion arrived and it's perfect. We'll order another for the other side now that we know that it's just right. And this old throw pillow cover from Ikea....I still love it 20 years after buying it. I need to curate an eclectic and comfy collection of throw pillows for the window seat area. I'm not a throw pillow person, but this spot SCREAMS cool throw pillows so I shall accept the challenge. Things are shaping up!!🥰 by @knitwitchery

What do you do on a rainy Saturday afternoon? Well, first I had to have a lay down because I wasn't feeling terrific and was tired, then Richard revealed what HE'D been doing and it's a window seat that we can stow totes under! I figured that I'd be mad if I wasted more time in bed, so I set about trying to teach myself wire wrapping. It's harder than I thought! Then I washed my rocks😂🤣. When they are dry they will get sprayed with gloss clear coating for the wet look. There a couple of shells in there too. by @knitwitchery

First island trip of the year! It was a fabulous Saturday and a damp chilly Sunday. @tianaisabellatheo bailed us out on Saturday when we realized a tote got left at home, helped us haul stuff, and let us know to come down to John Dan Cove for some socialization.❤️❤️ Cosmo had the best day of his little life, the girls had a blast with their buddies, and our hearts were full. by @knitwitchery
