From our founder, Cayli Cavaco Reck:
When we opened Knockout Beauty in Bridgehampton Memorial Day weekend of 2016, there were no beauty boutiques in the Hamptons.
Not really.
There were pharmacies with beauty counters. Legacy brands people already knew. But there was no science-forward skincare destination built around education, efficacy, and treatment.
And there certainly was not one carrying niche brands most people had never heard of yet.
I was 39 years old opening a beauty business in one of the sleepiest towns in the Hamptons.
Honestly, you do not think, “I am pioneering something.”
You think, “Maybe there is a reason no one else has done this before.”
But that summer changed something.
The same day we opened, my dear friend @leilanibishop and her business partner opened Botanica Bazaar. We had been friends since the 90s and both saw the same opening in the market. We simply interpreted it differently.
Leilani’s vision was beautiful. Green beauty. French pharmacy energy. Genuinely great.
We had a different point of view entirely.
The press came that summer because there was nothing else like it.
Looking back now, I can see we were part of the very beginning of the independent beauty retail boom nationally, while simultaneously pioneering beauty as a true category in the Hamptons.
Two frontiers.
One summer.
One bet.
And it was never just retail.
The treatment room became part of the story almost immediately and has since grown into one of the most sought-after appointments on the East End, summer after summer.
This Memorial Day weekend, we are already 85% booked for the summer.
Looking at these images now, I do not just see the evolution of a store.
I see the evolution of an industry.
Ten years of Knockout Beauty.
Our 11th summer.

We inherit more than eye color and bone structure.
We inherit patterns.
Tendencies.
Predispositions.
In skin, that may mean larger pores, more oil production, a greater tendency toward pigmentation, or collagen that declines more quickly over time.
None of this is good or bad.
It is information.
Once you understand what is genetically yours, you can stop comparing your skin to someone else’s and start making decisions based on your own biology.
That is when skin care becomes less about chasing perfection and more about understanding.
Less about self-criticism and more about self-respect.
There is something profoundly liberating about realizing your skin was never failing you.
It was communicating with you all along. by @knockoutbeauty

Cayli feels like a living archive of another New York—one you can’t quite touch anymore, only glimpse through her stories. Raised alongside icons, shaped by a world most only read about, she carries it all with a kind of ease that never asks for attention, yet holds it completely. Sitting with her, even briefly, is to step into something layered and rare… and never quite long enough. I have a feeling her story will live in a book one day—one I’d love to photograph. A masterclass co-hosted with the LA Strong Foundation and the remarkable Maxi Kozler Koven.
Three classes yesterday. More than one hundred women in the weeks ahead.
The same method I teach everywhere, brought to women who have been carrying a great deal.
It was an honor to care for them.
When women are given space to restore, everyone around them feels it.
