Image index and poster supplement for 930 Vol 02: Concealed Identity 02: Transfiguration

The image index catalogues the file name assigned to each image in the book, documenting its metadata. As the 930 Archive has grown, the file-naming convention has developed to become increasingly precise, recording the date each image was saved, its number in the sequence of images saved that day, and a description providing further information about the image.

930 Vol. 02: Concealed Identity 02: Transfiguration is the continuation of 930 Vol. 01: Concealed Identity, which catalogued all the mask imagery from my 930 Archive over a five-year period [2017.08.03–2022.07.20]. Transfiguration catalogues mask imagery from 2010–2017, then picks up again from 2022–2024.

Transfiguration comes in three parts:
1. The complete archive of imagery.
2. The image index, recording all file names as they were originally saved, from the initial file name assigned by the website through to comprehensive file names that act as captions and provide insight into each saved image.
3. A poster providing an overview of the imagery contained within the archive.

The 930 Archive, initiated on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 07:50 AM, is a continually expanding collection of images that explore impact and consequence. Daily, images are sourced from the vast expanse of the internet. This relentless pursuit involves collecting, cataloguing, and archiving imagery. by @knowledge_editions

1044 images in of masks collected from daily image trawling the abyss of the internet, between 2010–2017, 2022–2024.

930 Vol. 02: Concealed Identity 02: Transfiguration is the continuation of 930 Vol. 01: Concealed Identity, which catalogued all the mask imagery from my 930 Archive over a five-year period [2017.08.03–2022.07.20]. These saved images act as raw material—project references, drawing ideas, and humorous or compelling oddities. Arranged strictly by timestamp, the side-by-side juxtapositions form an engaging, overwhelming visual archive, complete with an index detailing the origins of each frame.

Tim Coghlanが来日し、5月22日(金)・5月23日(土)の2日間は在廊予定です。

この度、オーストラリアメルボルン拠点のパブリッシャー Knowledge Editions主宰 Tim Coghlanによる個展「Hidden Fortress」を開催します。

「Hidden Fortress」はパブリッシャー／グラフィックデザイナーのTim Coghlanが20年間(2006-2026)にわたって59冊のノートに残してきた制作活動をまとめたものです。
2006年に始めた最初のノートにはドローイング、コラージュ、写真が詰め込まれていました。しかし時が経つにつれ、彼の関心は「描くこと」よりも、「集めたイメージを組み合わせること」へと移っていきます。やがて収集した写真やイメージをまとめたzineや本を作る活動が始まり、それが2012年のKnowledge Editionsの立ち上げにつながりました。

2017年8月8日(火) 午前7時50分に彼は「930 Archive」をスタートします。これはインターネット上から毎日画像を収集し、「衝撃」や「出来事が及ぼす影響」をテーマに保存し続けるアーカイヴプロジェクトです。こうした画像を集め、分類し、保存する作業は、2019年以降のノート制作に大きな影響を与えました。本やコミック、新聞から集めた画像も含め、そうした素材がノート内の作品の多くを形作っていきました。

これら59冊のノートで積み重ねられた試行錯誤やアイデアは、最終的に「Hidden Fortress」へとつながっていきます。特に「衝撃とは何か」、そして「集められたイメージが持つ力」が大きなテーマになっています。

またこの展示では、「何から影響を受けてきたか」も大きなテーマになっています。Timが6歳の頃から影響を受け続けてきたヘヴィメタル、映画、コミックといったカルチャーが、作品の重要なリファレンスとして扱われています。
つまり「Hidden Fortress」はTim Coghlanが20年間続けてきた「集めること」「記録すること」「イメージを組み合わせること」の集大成であり、普段は外に見せない彼の個人的な創作の世界を公開する試みなのです。

本展では作品集「Hidden Fortress」Vol.1・Vol.2に加え、シルクスクリーン作品を展示販売。また、交流のあるアーティスト Stefan Marxが手がけたTシャツなど、マーチャンダイズも販売予定です。皆様のお越しを心よりお待ちしております。 taken in Gallery Commune - Commune Press by @knowledge_editions
