To Cheer,

Cheerleading has been a part of my life since I was seven, and it has always been the place where I could grow, express myself, and find joy. This sport has shaped me mentally, physically, and emotionally, and I’m truly grateful that God has allowed me to experience so much through it.

I want to thank Coach Floyd for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this team. You trained me when I was young, pushed me to be my best, and continued to guide me on the collegiate level. It has been a long journey, and I am forever thankful for everything you poured into me.

To all my coaches, every single one of you has played a major role in my cheer journey. You helped mold me into the athlete and leader I am today, and I love you all dearly. Thank you for every lesson, every correction, and every moment of support. ❤️

To Rookie 23, thank you for welcoming me with open arms and being such a special part of my Southern U Cheer experience.🩵

To Rookie 24 and 25, my babies, my little sisters and brothers, I love each of you so much. You all made my time with Southern U Cheer unforgettable, and I’m grateful for every memory we created together. 💛

Being Captain my senior year was one of the hardest but most rewarding things I have ever done. God placed me in this position for a reason, and I’m thankful for every lesson, every challenge, and every moment of growth that came with it.

dancer [dän-sar] noun • English a person who creates art through movement.

Since the age of 3, dance has always been my passion and has taught me so many lessons that go beyond dance itself. From dancing in the stands with high schoolers at 4 years old to completing the Southern University Dance Minor Program at 21, I can only thank God for blessing me with the gift of dance. 🧑🏾‍🩰

To my mom, thank you for introducing me to something you love so much and for always pushing me to be my best. I love you endlessly.

To all of my teachers, thank you for pouring into me, believing in me, and helping shape me into the dancer and person I am today. I appreciate every lesson, every correction, and every moment.

To the Southern University Dance Department, thank you for being my family and a place where I could grow, create, and truly be myself. Mrs. Roxi, Im forever grateful for everything you’ve instilled in me these past 3 years.

To everyone I’ve met through this journey, I love y’all so much and can’t wait to see what God has in store for each of you.

It’s been a pleasure, Higgins Hall. ⚖️

Since I stepped foot on Southern University’s campus, one of my biggest concerns was having professors and staff that actually cared about my future. After leaving Tennessee State, I was hoping for a better learning environment, and once I took my first class in Higgins Hall, everything I hoped for became reality.
From the professors in my department to all the students I’ve met and come across in this building, I can honestly say the environment was more than I expected. Being able to take classes with Dr. Beard, someone I’ve known since middle school, was really a full circle moment. He taught me the basics and importance of the law. Then meeting Professor Addison gave me a deeper understanding of the criminal justice system, and finishing my last semester with an in-person class taught by Professor Sohn opened my eyes to things happening within the system that I never even knew about.
These professors, along with many others, helped put me on a path to success by helping me better understand what’s going on in our government, the criminal justice system, and the importance of using my voice and knowledge to make an impact.
I truly thank everyone who helped and supported me throughout my journey while earning my bachelor’s degree. This Higgins Hottie is moving on to the next chapter!
