We’re excited to welcome Akilah Daniels-Vincent, MBA to the HBCUniverse Summit: NC Edition, presented by the Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics at North Carolina A&T State University!

Akilah is a technology and industry leader at Microsoft working at the intersection of AI, healthcare, life sciences, and digital transformation. Her work focuses on helping organizations move beyond AI experimentation to responsibly implement AI at scale, with an emphasis on governance, measurable impact, and real-world outcomes. She has also contributed to thought leadership around AI in healthcare and life sciences and was part of a team that earned first place in the Executive Challenge at Microsoft’s 2025 Global Hackathon.

A proud Tuskegee University alumna, Akilah brings an HBCU perspective alongside years of experience across technology, innovation, and industry. Our journey to our first property flip was so long. We dealt with delays, contractor issues, financing issues, city issues… *sigh* It felt like every time we solved one thing, another popped up. Something that was supposed to take a few months stretched into a year. But we’re here now, and I can tell you: I have never been so proud.

Not just of the interior design work I did, but of how this whole process taught us to work together as a real team. We learned how to define our roles, how to structure the way we move, how to lean on our realtor, how to treat the construction crew like part of the team, how to keep steady communication with the city, and how to bring in a lawyer when needed.

Every piece mattered. Every part taught us something. And honestly, it showed me that we’re just getting started.

We’re taking a 2 unit in a historical district and turned it into a large house. We’re also working on a 6 and a 8 unit next, and that’s going to be a whole new level working with commercial properties… even more interesting, even more challenging, and even more rewarding.

We are excited. Let’s GOOOOOO!

Fusion Festival 2025 Recap

This year at Fusion Fest, we had the honor of creating real-time impact with our community:

On the main stage, we guided participants through building their own grants database and email outreach database using @chatgpt —putting AI tools directly into the hands of entrepreneurs and change-makers. We were joined by Patty Rose, Executive Director of M Street Academy, and @shawncgregoire of @capstonecareer to deliver a powerful AI Bootcamp Workshop.

We also had the chance to sit with @yannacyarra Williams, founder of @techwellnesssociety , to explore how holistic wellness practices fuel professional growth for tech professionals. The session continued with grounding breathwork and a stretch flow led by sophialorin of #sophit4youwellness.

#FusionFest2025 lived up to its name—bringing together workshops that nurtured the whole person through tech, culture, community, and wellness.

Huge thanks to @wacifdmv and @anacostiaarts for inviting @bmaweb3 to return as a partner again this year. Great working with you @airenwashington @jessbecre 🫡.

Still buzzing from the energy of the 2025 Fusion Festival in Anacostia. I had the honor of leading a hands-on session on how small businesses can build a full-scale marketing department using AI without spending a dime.

We talked strategy. We built prompts. We turned ideas into image, audio, and video content in real time. And most importantly, we proved that you don’t need a big budget to market like the big brands, you just need the right tools and a clear framework.
