It’s been a little over a week since our season finished. Another incredible year of being a Kodiak. We wanted to take the time to thank our friends, family and community for once again embracing and celebrating all that it means to be a Kodiak.
This group was given the difficult task. Gone were some of the key pillars from our program that made us so successful for a number of years and in stepped a new generation of Kodiaks. We announced our presence with an ACAC Bronze medal which is the programs 4th medal in the last 6 full seasons.
This was truly a collective effort, epitomized by a hard working, selfless and motivated group. We saw @shayewall and @dkindl_ return from career altering injuries, we saw the debut of some incredible 1st year athletes, and we got to celebrate athletes who may have had a lesser role take the ACAC by storm. We laughed, joked, and became a family along the way.
Sometimes in order to look how far we’ve come it’s important to look back. 9 years ago we won our first ever ACAC QF and now we wear bronze medals with a tinge of dissatisfaction that it’s not gold. We want to bring the first banner to Lethbridge so badly, and preparations have already begun to do this.
Anything in life can provide meaning if you allow it to. We are choosing that this bronze represents the another step up the incredibly difficult mountain that is an ACAC gold medal. We are proud of this accomplishment and look forward to what these athletes accomplish in 2026-2027 as we continue on our journey with a motivated group of returning athletes and an electric group 2026 recruits coming in.
Again Lethbridge… we heard you all along the way. We felt your presence, well wishes, and passion every time we stepped on the floor. From our local clubs, to recruits, to our volleyball community supporters we are here to inspire that next generation of Kodiaks.

Damn.
So friggen close.
This is always the hardest picture to take. Last night we were sad. However, a wise man once said “there’s worse things than being sad, and that’s being alone and being sad.” This team certainly isn’t alone as we reflect on our 2024-2025 season.
A former Kodiaks coach said- “we are not just another statistic, we did something truly remarkable together.” This year won’t be remembered for our 43-3 record. It won’t be be remembered by our 3rd ACAC final in the last 6 years. It won’t be remembered for our many individual accolades and accomplishments.
This group will be remembered for adversity turning into resilience. Making life long bonds that will create hunting trips, groomsmen at weddings, new found friends and yes… even a fishing trip with Marshall.
We are so much more than a statistic as Kodiaks. We are passionate about our community, growing the sport in southern Alberta and being an inspiration to those who’ve worn the bear, and hope to someday become a Kodiak.
Lethbridge. We felt you every step of the way. From watch parties at practice facilities to teams huddled around hotel room tvs at premiers to our countless alumni that reach out time and time again to offer their unwavering support - we felt you.
Our head coach had 88 different texts messages after our semi final victory to secure our place in the ACAC final. We are more than just the 26 of us this season as our community and alumni supported us so much through the journey.
To our ACAC members. Thanks for believing in our program and your well wishes along the way. We felt the energy in Lakeland all weekend and whether you were a Rustler, Clipper or Rattler you made us feel value.
To our 5 athletes graduating. Thanks for leaving your jersey in a better place.
Failure isn’t a single snap shot of one match and one point in time. Failure is not picking yourself up after getting knocked down. Kodiaks Volleyball promises to evolve, grow; and continue to do what makes us special. We will be back. We will be better and this isn’t the end of the story.
Thank you Kodiak Country for following along with us. Your 2025 ACAC Silver Medalists. #gtt #hm

One fundamental statement we live by as Kodiak MVB is “leave the jersey in a better place.”
As our athletes get set to dawn the Carolina blue and black for another season we often challenge them to not only improve our program, but our community, institution and each other. Getting to wear this jersey is such a privilege and we know that this group will continue to evolve what it means to be Kodiak.
We’ve been quiet on social media - but promise to share our stories as we try to leave this as we leave this program better than where we found it. The chase for the first banner continues on 🐻 by @kodiaksmvb

On the move! Former Kodiak MVB athlete @moes.n has signed his second professional contract. After dominating in Sweden, Nolan moves to volleyball powerhouse Slovenia.
Over 1000 ACAC Kills , top 10 in aces and kills all time in ACAC and a 4 time ACAC all star - Moes will look to continue to make an impact in Europe with the exposure in a really tough league. Moes brings with him big game experience with multiple ACAC Silver medals and all tournament team awards.

Big congrats to Nolan as he embarks on this next exciting adventure. Looks like we are all @panvita_pomgrad fans! Good luck Nolan 🫡 taken in Murska Sobota by @kodiaksmvb
