The last firing brought us a lovely collection of cups. After quite some time, we experimented with different surface decorations again, exploring a direction we’d like to take with our work. We’re already pretty happy with these first attempts. What do you think?

We’re also really happy with the shape. It sits so naturally in your hands, and everything feels balanced. The surface, the weight, the form itself. The warm, sandy tone of our clay blend adds to this feeling, bringing a softness and warmth to each piece.

A form for whatever is allowed to grow.

The bowl remains quiet and understated, while the delicate stems find their own space. The raised centre subtly lifts the arrangement, giving the flowers a little more presence without taking away from their natural lightness.

For us, that is where the appeal lies: a clear form that does not dictate how it has to be used.

Modular Cube Vase

This Modular Cube Vase was born from the idea of rethinking an object through play. Its modularity invites you to combine, rearrange and reinterpret the individual elements again and again.

The clear, geometric form emerged through experimentation, curiosity and perhaps a little procrastination. It reflects our approach to form beyond the wheel: precise, reduced shapes that leave room for play.

The unglazed surface takes on a dark, almost metallic character through the wood firing, while the small openings allow for a minimal, sculptural arrangement of individual stems.

The warm tones, the quiet proportions and the way all the individual forms come together make this set-up one of our clear favorites from the last firing.

The little red cheeks of the kyūsu, created by the salt flashing, add something particularly warm to the piece. They remind us of coming home from a cold walk, when your cheeks slowly turn red as your body begins to warm up again. There’s something comforting about that feeling — and somehow, the kyūsu carries that same warmth for us.

It really doesn’t need much: a bowl, a kyūsu, a few falling leaves. Everything comes together so naturally and simply feels right. A small set-up that already feels like autumn.

Autumn and winter are just around the corner, and we’re looking forward to spending more time drinking tea again. Preferably, of course, with tea from our dear Shen @yincha_ams 🤍

We’re so incredibly proud and happy with how our second wood firing in our own kiln went. We made a few adjustments and tried out some new things, and honestly, we never expected to be rewarded with results like these. Almost nothing went wrong, all of our clay and glaze tests turned out beautifully, and they gave us so many stunning combinations that already come very close to what we had envisioned aesthetically.

I don’t think you can really imagine, unless you’ve experienced the process yourself, just how adventurous but also physically and mentally demanding it is to make ceramics in a wood firing. How much time, work, and thought goes into every single vessel. So to have everything turn out this well feels incredibly rewarding and relieving. We’re already looking forward to the next firing. And, most of all, to finally showing you all of our results soon シ

The second firing in our wood kiln was a much greater success than we could have hoped for.

After our first firing, there were a few things that didn’t go quite as planned. Our biggest challenge was an uneven temperature distribution from the bottom to the top of the kiln. Many pieces hadn’t matured fully, and the effects we were hoping for weren’t quite there yet. So we made a few changes. To the way we loaded the kiln, the firing schedule, and also by adding more salt and ash.

To see these results come out of the kiln feels almost unbelievable. Our understanding of this craft grows with every firing, and there is something incredibly rewarding about opening and unloading the kiln and seeing how all these small adjustments have come together.

We’re already excited to show you more results over the coming days and weeks!
