I have my sign. I’m taking the steps and I need you to share this with someone who needs to hear it. I know she’s out there.

I started Kohelet 3 years ago out of absolute certainty that my daughter needed a school that would allow her to shine!

It has been one of the MOST challenging and rewarding experiences of my life and I want others to also experience what @kohelet_hs has to offer!

Kohelet High School for girls. Crown Heights, Brooklyn. by @kohelet_hs

It was a massive leap of faith then -
and it still is today.

Starting a school.
Running a school.
Beginning again each year.
None of it is small. None of it is simple.
And the only way I know how to keep going is to hold onto faith - every single day.

Year 3, and that leap hasn’t gotten smaller.
But neither has the impact.

If you know a girl who needs Kohelet High School- please share us with her family. Every conversation can open a door.

She lifted up every girl in the room.
And then, finally, she lifted up herself.

She named her good.
Out loud.
Fully.
Bravely.

Not because it was easy.
But because it mattered.

That’s the kind of growth this school exists for.
The kind that starts inside.
And ripples out.

She is my daughter.
She is the reason Kohelet began.

And today, she’s one of the clearest reflections of what’s possible here.

This wasn’t the plan - PART 1
Three years ago, my daughter walked out of high school halfway through 9th grade.
She just couldn’t do it anymore.
I tried everything I could to keep her where she was.

Because it was easier. Because it made sense. Because I was scared!

But she knew what so many teenagers feel deep down, that staying somewhere you don’t belong slowly dims your light.

So we searched. And searched. And traveled out of state and worried. And when we couldn’t find a school that felt like a fit, I did something I never imagined, in my wildest dreams doing:
I started one.

Today, Kohelet Girls’ High School is heading into its third year.

And the girl who once had no place is now standing tall, speaking truth, inspiring others, and becoming more of who she really is every single day.

This school was born out of a dream to make a space for my daughter and others like her, that refuse to be forced into boxes that don’t fit.

It was born to make space - for growth, for courage, for becoming.

✨ If your daughter is ready for more than just getting by...
✨ If she’s bright, bold, sensitive, strong, and just doesn’t fit the mold...
✨ If you’re looking for a school that sees who she really is - and helps her see it too...

Kohelet might be the place.

She is why we do what we do.

Our students commitment to self, to her class and to her school - has changed us more than it has for her.

It’s only been one year and the lives of our graduates have significantly changed.

This night was one of the most rewarding nights of my life 🙏. Starting @kohelet_hs in Crown Heights a year ago out of sheer need/desperation for my own daughter to have a school where she could blossom and learn vital life lessons- never imagining seeing others, GRADUATING high school - having their lives changed because of what has been created!
