Dear 85

I’m not sure where to even begin. I just want to say thank you. Thank you for giving me the most amazing mother I could have ever needed. Thank you for giving me one of the best grandmothers I could have ever asked for. Thank you for giving the most amazing family and the best group of cousins I could have ever wanted. Most importantly thank you for being my grandfather. For those who don’t know, I lost my dad at a very young age, but I was very fortunate enough to have a lot of father figures in my life and Larry Kohn was one of, if not the most prominent one. Whether it was about sports, life, relationships, work ethic, etc. A lot of the principles I have and the mindset I developed to this day was because of him. One thing he would always tell me every time I saw him was “when you are between those white lines you are a different man, go out there and you be the meanest son of a bitch and knock somebody down on their ass but the second you step off the field you are a respectful gentleman” and as cool as I thought him saying that was, little did I know that would be the exact principle and mindset I would apply to my every day in life. Work hard and bust your tail for what you love, but don’t forget who you are at your core.

It’s funny because despite how many stories he told me, how many hours I sat there and listened to him talk. A UGA FOOTBALL DAWG. I still have so many questions I want to ask him. Not only do I believe, I know that one day we will meet again and I get will an eternity with him to talk and ask the things I wanted to. Some of the greatest memories I have are either with or because of you.

The last thing I want to say is he touched so many people and inspired them to be better humans all around. I pray I can be half the man you were. I will always be grateful for these names that we shared. And the biggest honor I have is to carry on your nicknames but also to carry on your name for the rest of my life. You gave me a chance and I promise Larry I will take EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.
I love you 85
I love you Kohndo
I love you Larry Kelley Kohn
Rest. In. Peace. 🕊️❤️🖤
