🍂 The weather’s changed, the cozy layers are out, and we’re officially in another season here in The County.

Here are a few October favourites amongst our team…. you can find them all in our shops (scroll through!).

No secret agenda. Just the things we’re actually reaching for/putting on our wish lists.

Whose style catches your eye?

Happy October, everyone!

Charlotte’s October picks are basically a recipe for cozy, creative days with her kiddos. 🩶
(October is officially sock season, right @cateandlevi ?)

Mary Ann’s October picks are all about slowing down and snuggling in.
(@wildwood.creek Coastal Woods brings autumn right inside)

Lindsey is calling this ‘autumn mood in a basket’. We’re pretty sure this is always her vibe, though.
(Peek our custom made MacAusland Pillows. )

Danielle’s picks have her soaking up these last few weekends of open-air markets, making the most of the sunshine and hanging onto a little bit of summer - while looking flawless.

We have a secret. 🤫

Actually… we have a few.

There’s colour involved.
There are plans in motion.
And things around here are about to look a little different.

We’re not telling you everything yet.

You’ll just have to KEEP watching.

Truth & Reconciliation isn’t just one day. It’s ongoing work.

As a local business, we know that reconciliation isn’t something we can simply post about once a year. At KOKITO & keep, we’re committed to continuing to learn, to supporting Indigenous artists and makers, and to finding meaningful ways to contribute to reconciliation in our own community.

If you’re in Prince Edward County, here are five things you can do today — and keep doing:

1. Visit A Path Forward.
Head to Macaulay Heritage Park in Picton and spend some time with A Path Forward, a permanent exhibit co-curated with Tsi Tyónnheht Onkwawén:na that explores Indigenous history, art, story and reconciliation right here in our region.

2. Learn from the people whose territory we share.
The Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte are our neighbours. Take some time to learn about the history, culture and contemporary community of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte.

3. Show up and listen.
Look for opportunities to attend Indigenous-led events and gatherings in our community. Come to listen and learn, rather than to centre yourself. If you have suggestions of events, folks to follow, or gatherings, please share!

4. Support Indigenous artists and businesses.
Buy from Indigenous makers and creators. Read books by Indigenous authors. Listen to Indigenous musicians. Supporting Indigenous economies is part of reconciliation, too.

5. Choose one Call to Action to learn about.
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission identified 94 Calls to Action, covering everything from education and child welfare to language, justice and health. Pick one. Read it. Find out what it means locally. Then consider what action you can take.

Truth comes before reconciliation.
And reconciliation asks something of all of us.

Meet Hailey Gerrits ✨
We love carrying (and wearing) Hailey’s gorgeous handmade jewelry.

Hailey has been creating jewellery since 2010, drawn to the beauty and history held in old metals and unusual gemstones. Her pieces have that wonderful feeling of being both ancient and completely modern — sculptural, a little romantic, and made to be worn every day.

Her newest collection: An Ode to the Okanagan Valley, is inspired by the colours and landscapes of her home. The collection brings together rich gemstones, reclaimed and recycled brass, and even recycled materials like vinyl, all handmade.

We welcomed @storyofaseed into our shops in 2019.

There’s something about Japneet’s prints that has always felt at home here. Her work draws from the ecosystems around her — the places where humans, animals and plants overlap and coexist.
Through layers of line, colour and intricate forms, she creates beautiful, dreamlike worlds. The longer you look, the more you notice: relationships, movement, little stories and connections.

We love that her work feels both wild and considered — rooted in nature, but full of imagination!

Her high-colour giclée prints are made on acid- and chlorine-free watercolour paper, capturing the richness and detail of her original watercolours.

Here’s a small selection of her work to give you an idea of the storytelling she expresses through her art. Beautiful! Thanks Japneet 🩶.
