That little intersection stepping off the MJ Pedestrian Bridge and onto Jalan Raja where the flag flies 300 ft above is one of my favourite spots in the city. Thank you for giving me a reason to love it more @seniwati.my 💜 I was on the fence about performing so I didn’t—but I did show up and I didn’t feel alone. Our voices are a lot louder together. And true to my element, I noticed everything. Inspiration from over 20 placards scrawled in my notebook while doing laundry, and of course, Zul’s @zulstg shimmering DIY skeleton corset that jangled with every scream.

Ko Ko finds stories in the ordinary, collecting moments and details that might otherwise go unnoticed. To him, every creak, every pause, and every door holds the possibility of something waiting to be discovered.

“I can’t expect the fans to stop whirring in the restaurant.” I think that’s my favourite line ❤️‍🩹 Thank you for giving Funeral Spread the care it needed @wpm_malaysia 💐 I’m so honoured to have participated alongside many talented poets, and that I was able to give a unique perspective on “Merdeka/independence” (or the lack there of), packing a whole funeral and family customs into a plate of Biryani served on a banana leaf at a mamak nearby. I wrote “Badge” when I felt stuck that afternoon, and “Unbroken” on the night I came home after performing at Cocoday, forming a trilogy stringing death, disappearance, and survival. I’m grateful I’m still writing and cultivating a world out of seemingly ordinary things that hold deeper stories. More about that on my TEDx talk in November, InshaAllah 🫶🏽

I wrote this for our Rohingya siblings, particularly for @nuriosity_ 🫂, witnessing all the hardship they continue to endure. “Hoñsu Fathar Faani” is a Rohingya proverb which translates to “water that leaves no mark rolling off a taro leaf” encapsulating the statelessness and resilience of the people. I performed this piece at Jalinan Kubu Seni @cocoon.creativelab which was a fundraiser for stateless youth in Sabah. This is but a small act of solidarity from my end ✊🏽❤️‍🩹 And Fugee @fugee_org thank you for the incredible work that you do to dismantle the misinformation, hatred, and xenophobia manufactured against vulnerable communities. I hope any refugee youth who sees this feels a little less alone ❤️‍🩹

Words' Worth, after all, is a labour of love. We've contemplated deeply on creating a space that welcomes people, experienced and new, into the craft of poetry. What better way to highlight the Labour show than to make visible the labour that goes behind organising Words' Worth? ❤️

The nightmares I had when daddy sold
