‘a reader lives a thousand lives’📖🫐
scribbling my thoughts on each read in the caption under each picture, hihi🍅

when i first saw the size of the copy, my instant reaction was to keep it back, because it’s larger in size than a normal book & i like to hold books in my hands when i read???? also this was a chonk one. now that i have finished reading it, i would gladly have this in an even bigger size with even more pages, because how do i go on with my regular life after reading this & knowing friendships this pure & rare exists?😭

it’s a page turner. the only reason i had to stop was because i had work, but god, was i so invested.☕️ also it is usually at this point where i started feeling like ‘what i would give to be a character in this book?’💌

no one talk to me, but i just couldn’t keep the book down at all. i have read for 6 hours on wednesday & not once did i feel like stopping, which says a lot for someone who’s attention span is that of an eraser. i love backman’s writing style, he’s done it again & now you’ll watch me swim through everything this person has ever written, because it’s gold. pure gold. 🌸 god it makes you want to hug everyone in the book, except you can’t because they’re not real, but your sentiments are.🫂

a short, sweet read, i finished in one sitting! makes me want to visit mussoorie & look at all the places mentioned in the book! also unexpectedly funny at times:)💗📖

made me realise how much our generation has been cursed by instant messaging apps, because now i want to write letters, but who do i write it to?☹️ by the time, i finished reading it, i felt like i was actually one of the people corresponding with sybil van antwerp!🌸 warm, witty, heartfelt, just full of life at its best & worst.

my sister always says how good children fiction is & i can’t agree more. another lovely read full of weird characters, so so funny, like laugh out loud funny & yet so sweet!🥣🍵💌

the original plan was to make a scrapbook edit for this but the pictures were so ‘lively’ by themselves, i didn’t want to overcrowd or overshadow their beauty, so i have typed (yes me, not ai) small descriptions/ bts tmi for each picture & only god knows how nostalgic i feel for a geographical location, i might cry. ⭐️🇯🇵🌸🍡🍜🍥

if you have read ‘days at the morisaki bookshop’ - i visited jimbocho, the book town of japan!!!!! 📖🧸⭐️ everything here was exactly how i imagined when i was first reading the book! bought a book from one of the bookstore cafe there called ‘jimbocho bookshop centre’ & drank hojicha ☕️ mostly 99% all the books were in japanese (duh) but i bought a japanese folktales book in the sweet memory of my traces in the morisaki bookshop world :P

one of the early mornings in osaka, from our airbnb stay! i have seen prettier sunrises ngl, but this still feels so warm, reminds me of the street our airbnb was on, the lawson 1 min away where we used to get our morning coffees from, the nearby metro station & the cosy neighbourhood 🍥🍜🌧️⭐️

this. so, managing to eat veg & vegan food in japan was such a task, along with our crazy packed itinerary + a lot of these eateries are built in mall basements along with other shops & ofc google maps glitches for such places. one of the days in tokyo, we spent almost 2 hours searching for an eatery that we had decided to visit for lunch, but we literally went round & round some 5-7 times & just couldn’t find this place, we gave up after that, ofc. but but but on the departure day, at the airport while we were waiting to board, this exact same eatery had a branch at the airport!!! what? crazy full circle moment, with this, we ate our last meal in japan.🇯🇵🥹⭐️🍜

in japan, even pothole covers are aesthetic. 🌸

mount fuji is only visible clearly 75-80 days in a year, we saw it in it’s full glory! i also saw that people say ‘if you see mt. fuji on your first trip to japan, it wants you to come back’ true or not, japan will definitely see me coming again ;)
p.s.: that’s my sister & i, just 2 girls in their 20s, who made it to japan 🇯🇵🌸🧸
