I’M RUNNING THE HOUSTON MARATHON!!! 🏃🏽‍♀️💙🧡

On January 17th, I’ll be taking on 26.2 miles — but I want those miles to mean something bigger than a finish line.

I’m running and fundraising for Magnificat House, a Houston organization that walks alongside people experiencing homelessness, poverty, mental illness, and displacement by providing community, housing, meals, support, and a place to belong.

Training for a marathon is a privilege, and I’m incredibly grateful that every mile I put in can help support people right here in our Houston community.

If you’d like to be part of these 26.2 miles with me, please consider donating to my fundraiser — whether it’s $5, $10, $26.20, or whatever you’re able to give. Every donation matters. 🤍

And if donating isn’t possible, sharing this post or my fundraiser means just as much.

Houston, I’ll see you at the finish line. 🥹🏁

Three whole years.

When I was six months sober, I made a new friend who was entering her third year. That amount of time bewildered me. At that point in my life, three years was a hopeful dream for me and my sobriety journey.

Now here I am.

Three years has felt like forever and nothing at all, all at the same time. In these three years, I have found myself again, chosen a healthier lifestyle physically, mentally, and emotionally, made a multitude of reparations, spread forgiveness like wildfire to those around me, come back to the Catholic faith, and treated each new day as a lesson in how to be a better person.

Lord willing, three years is just a glimpse of the timeline of my sobriety. But man, I do not take a single day for granted that I have spent choosing, over and over again, to stay sober.

The Lord’s will has been done in this chapter of my life. May His will continue to be done in every day moving forward. by @kolbe_purcell

Oh, September!

This song will forever make me think of my big, wild, loud, dancing family, and our truly iconic family weddings. The kind where the dance floor stays full, everyone’s a little too loud, and somehow the chaos becomes one of your favorite places to be.

I’m so grateful for a family that celebrates big, loves hard, and never misses an opportunity to dance together.

September will always hold such a special place in my heart. Here’s to the beautiful chaos, the unforgettable weddings, and the people who make it all so sweet. 💛 by @kolbe_purcell

Minnesota 🌲🤍

This little vacation made me fall inlove with this beautiful state!

From the chilly mountain mornings, Great Lake views, friendly locals and anticipation to see the wildlife… I’m ready to plan my next trip back.

I got to cheer on my brother and sister-in-law as they ran their first marathon (🥹) while admiring the beauty of Gods creation.

The quality time with family while making memories in the mountains is something that can never be surpassed.

God is so good. God bless, Minnesota! by @kolbe_purcell

My Hyrox journey was a year in the making.

It is the reason I started running and was able to finish my first half-marathon. It is the reason I got out of my gym slump of not having any goals or motivation. It taught me that I can do hard things! It taught me more about consistency and growth than anything I’ve ever done (outside of sobriety).

Racing my first Hyrox wasn’t just about completing the race, but it was learning how I need to push myself past my physical capabilities and rely on my mental and spiritual strength.

This race wasn’t the end goal but instead the beginning of a journey of future races and accomplishments. It’s proof that I CAN do it despite what the devil might try to lie to me.

Hyrox Houston, you showed up and showed out. To the next one! 🤍🤘🏼🤠 by @kolbe_purcell

February 2025: I went out a ran a mile for the first time since high school. It was slow, it was hard. I had no idea what I was doing and gassed myself out too early. I never thought anything more than a mile would be achievable for me.

February 2026: I completed my first half marathon. It wasn’t easy, it was a challenge. I ran it with a virus, 1 headphone and a late start. But I have never been more proud of myself. The devil tried to give me reasons to think God couldn’t carry me through this race, but he didn’t win, God did.

I accomplished something I never thought was in my future. I started running to try to achieve 5 miles for a competition, never thinking a half marathon was possible for me.

But I joined the 1%. And it’s just the beginning.

29 ✨

This past year God slowed me down and brought me back to what matters.

“Be still and know that I am God.”

I’ve learned how to choose Him daily, even when it’s hard and even when it’s quiet. I’ve grown in my prayer life, learned to trust God with my body and my time, and to let Him lead instead of trying to control everything myself.

This year also came with my continuing sobriety. Letting go of things that distracted me so I could be fully present. Clear minded. Grounded. Open to what God was doing in me.

I’ve also fallen in love with fitness in a new way. Not for how my body looks, but for what it can do. Learning to treat my body as a gift and a tool, and to use my strength, endurance, and effort as a way to glorify God.

“Those who remain in me will bear much fruit.”
I see that fruit now in the small, steady ways I show up.

Grateful for the growth, the lessons, and God’s faithfulness that carried me into 29. by @kolbe_purcell

TWO. YEARS. SOBER.

Year 2 taught me the following:

- I need a Savior.
- I do not deserve a thing that I have, nor the grace that is given to me.
- Christ is King. He will take back who and what is His.
- Your health (mental, spiritual, physical) is not just about you, it’s about the people you love.
- You are capable of ANYTHING you put your mind to.
- The body is an incredible machine designed by God.
- I am loved so far beyond what I deserve.
- Gods plan is always greater.
- I am Catholic because I am sober, not sober because I am Catholic.
- Our kingdom is not here on earth.
- The book of Psalms follows the book of Job for a reason.
- We cannot do anything on our own.
- Grace is a gift freely given to us but not a crutch.
- God is Good.

If you or anyone you love struggles with addiction, I’m happy to be your friend in recovery. We do recover.

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
