Heirloom Runway by Kong Design

First debuting on New Zealand Fashion Week’s runway with MaeSteal in 2023, KONG presents her solo show Heirloom at Silo 6 on Friday 27 February, 2026. The collection blends together Chinese inspired, chinoiserie-patterns and European, rococo-flaired design to transform the silo into a decadent ballroom of desire through a queer, lesbian lens.

Silhouettes incorporate ornate corsetry, drapery, and exaggerated volumes, with a kiss of distressed finishes, asymmetry, and aged floral elements to create tension between fragility and power. The femme is balanced with the fatale as KONG pulls inspiration from Westwood, Galliano, and Guo Pei.

This collection marks a ravishing debut for KONG, honoring heritage, queerness, and romantic darkness that flirts with fabric, form, and yearning.

A moment of silence for the great arteries set- it got stolen in my building so hopefully I get it back. For now here’s some details in case in doesnt see the light of day, the dress reminds me and embodies my heart condition of the transposition of the great arteries where my vessels were in opposite positions in my birth. I got the surgery 10 days old and my surgeon was Dr Alan Kerr who went on in my birth year to do heart surgeries and giving aid on children and babies in Palestine, completely over 45 missions in Gaza and the West Bank on children with heart problems since 2001. Apparently I was the first successful surgery done on a newborn in New Zealand in 2001 of that surgery, so when I think of that I am very grateful to be here. The corset and skirt is beyond its fabric and beads. I’m super proud of this set and also super proud I have the privilege of designing, I dedicate this set to my doctor Alan Kerr thank you for saving peoples lives🫀 free Palestine always by @kongdesignofficial

It’s been a month since I put on Heirloom🪷

Thank you to my huge team of creatives that got involved with this project. This was a thoughtfully curated space of beautiful young artists that deserve all their flowers. Thank you to each and every one who was involved in the making and the outcome of the runway, you are all wonderful and I thank you deeply 🫀 thank you to @coppermaesteal and @nikirreii for helping me produce this, I have loved working with you two through out the years 🫶🏼

This was a passion project from my heart (condition) of the art I’ve learnt so far, I know there will be many more eras of Kong孔. Love to my parents for being so goated in art and fashion and passing it down to me. Shoutout Wuhan and Zhengzhou 🙏

Thank you again to everyone that has supported me so far and seen me for my love of art :’) I appreciate it every single day.

Great Arteries Set: Corset $500. Skirt $480. Sleeves $75.

Symbolising my heart condition, ending the runway with a painfully beautiful contrast of bright dark red. Bleeding with beading, it’s westwood inspired with dark romance silhouettes. She’s a bleeding heart, she’s beautiful and a light in the room, but physically or emotionally something is always happening. Essence of a beating heart, emotional and dramatic, but holding it together emotionally.

Frozen Charlotte Set: Coming soon at @_bizarrebazaar

Reminds me of those old frozen Charlotte ceramic dolls, she’s intentionally distressed and textured to represent the cracks and intensity of a feminine light being. Showcasing beauty and rot into one look. A ghost moving so freely, in-between a purgatory of light and dark.
