Current Series: APHRODITE‘S BRUTALISM 🔗

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Not everything soft is weak, and not everything brutal is cold. A piece of a series I can’t stop making.

This series is called APHRODITE‘S BRUTALISM - honoring the beauty of assumed contradictions.

I envisioned it, so I created it.
Here‘s to building the life I was meant to live.

This aluminum series is called APHRODITE‘S BRUTALISM and is my exploration about assumed contradictions. Apparently something soft can also be really brutal.

More to come 🔗

Something soft can also be brutal.

As so many connected to this metal series, I decided to share more thoughts behind my work, as art is so much more than we can grasp with our eyes.

ALHRODITE’S BRUTALISM - a sculpture series made out of aluminum, honoring the layered beauty of assumed contradictions.

Wait for the light to hit 👀

This is Daughter 1 of 4 - A chapter of my ongoing series APHRODITE’S BRUTALISM about softness and brutality.

I found my sparkle again ✨

Strange how a single sheet of wire mesh can change a life entirely. I didn’t expect this art series to go viral, but I‘m blown away by all the love and remembering how it all started, makes me quite emotional and incredibly grateful.

May this be your little reminder: not every ending is a loss 🩶

You gotta see the vision before anyone else does ⛓️

The funny thing about wire mesh (mosquito net) is that I didn’t always see it as the artwork itself.
I used to use it as the hidden foundation underneath my sculptures - something that was never meant to be seen tbh.

Little did I know that my fascination with this material would eventually turn into an entire series.

An overlooked material can become the starting point of something much bigger 🤍 sometimes you gotta change the perspective.

Raw aluminum instead of concrete. The same brutalist honesty, a softer material logic.

This is APHRODITE’S BRUTALISM ⚒️

The sculpture changes - so do we.
But who are we really?

For 9 months, I worked on the question of how to bring two seemingly opposite forces into one language: softness and brutality.

APHRODITE’S BRUTALISM was born from this - the contrast between a material that feels cold, strong and architectural - and the delicate, almost emotional facets that can emerge through shape and light.

The sculpture itself remains the same, yet it reveals something different with every environment it enters.

Maybe we‘re not so different.

I resist to choose between soft and strong 🌪️

I’m Mary, a mixed media artist - and this is my aluminum series APHRODITE‘S BRUTALISM. It’s my attempt to give metal what femininity has always carried and rarely gets credit for: contradiction as strength, not weakness.

This sculpture seems armored under one light, tender under another.

Most of us know this feeling - being asked to pick a side of ourselves.

This series is my answer: you don’t have to.
