3/3 A new mindset. - When starting a new project I have always considered it to be more like a collaboration or as a team effort rather than a transaction. Hence the name. - When briefing, I put my clients to work. Haha. They need to feel like they are part of the process in order to get the best outcome out of their project. - Usually, brands are based on the owners background, beliefs and values so personal questions are always good to ask. Thay can also be a great way to lighten up the mood. - I like to find what makes their business special and unique and emphasize it all the way though their identity system. 2/3 A new chapter. - As years gone past the business grew and my vision for the agency got more and more refined. I can proudly say that now Koolab reached maturity and it was time for a much needed facelift. - The abstract patterns became more defined and directional, much like my vision, values and goals. I wanted to embrace my architectural background and incorporate it into the brand. But why? - Because it taps into this idea of 'building' brands. I just love that! Brands are like buildings: They all need a good foundation and a good structure in order to stand the test of time. And they both start from the same start point: people. This is what gives them meaning! - Good structure also gives you the ability to experiment with special shapes, spaces and materials. Get it? This is also linked to design principles like contrast, balance, proportion, rhythm, etc. - Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg in both domains, but my intention here is to show how similar these two are. This is our first logo design ...we created 6 years ago. It’s actually the first logo we created at @koolab.design My former partner @dragostep23 brought this project from his cousin. The logo is for an app designed to help people find other players in their region to play with. Kinda like Tinder, but for sports. Name translates to something like: “Well let’s go”. Unfortunately the app didn’t make it, but I wanted to share this beautiful logo. Took some freedom to create some nice slides for it as well. I think it’s holding up pretty well. We're glad that we were able to collaborate with Saki Mobilă for this project. It was interesting to explore new territories, new challenges and find suitable solutions that tie the entire concept. - It was definitely a breath of fresh air to work on this brand. We all know how important it is to have quality furniture in the house that fits our needs. Saki is a furniture outlet with direct import from Germany and the Netherlands. The name, although it sounds very Asian, consists of the first two initials of the owners. On closer inspection we discovered that in Japanese "saki" means "before". Thus, we found a connection between the Saki brand and the Japanese culture notoriously known for its cultural values: quality, belonging, politeness, naturalness.
