I moved to New York 15 years ago today. I took this photo 6 years ago on September 11 from my roof during 2020, after spending all of covid in the city, most of it by myself in this apartment. I was at my high school in rural central Florida at an FCA meeting when 9/11 happened. I remember praying for everyone in the city. Twenty-five years ago. It's crazy to think it was that long ago. It's crazy to think that same place is now my home. My home of 15 years. What I didn't know back then is this city is strong. It doesn't just survive, it grows, it changes, it never quits. I will be forever grateful to this city and what it's taught me: how to be resilient, how to believe, how to endlessly work hard, how to be real, how to never give up and never stop fighting, pushing for what is right. Mostly, I'm grateful for the people. New York is the people. And I'm proud to be one of them.
