Meet the ensemble of The Pre Fixe Performance, making a special appearance at The Prelude tomorrow before taking the stage for our culminating performance this October.

Disco, dance, memory, and collected stories come together in an immersive dance theater experience exploring the many ways Black people create, experience, and share pleasure. Supported through a @chicagodancemakersforum Project Grant awarded to Artistic Director, @meidamcneal & Honey Pot Performance, this work weaves movement with stories, images, and memories of pleasure. Rooted in the sensuality of disco and its relationship to Black social dance traditions, The Pre Fixe moves through stepping, the hustle, and other partner dances with a nod toward disco and house’s ethos of freedom of expression.

Gabriel Lochard (@gabrielthegriot) is a multidisciplinary artist working at the intersection of sound, spirit, movement, and collective liberation.

Maya Anuligo (@movementbymaya) is a multidisciplinary movement artist and poet whose practice centers experimentation, musicality, authenticity, and the possibilities of connection.

Kopano (@kopanoart) is a Chicago Southside-born cultural worker and artist connecting their South African and Chicago roots through music, movement, and collaboration.

Jarius “ManOfGod” King (@mogdance) is a Black Arts instructor, DJ, dancer, and multidisciplinary artist whose practice brings together movement, music, culture, and community.

Catch the ensemble at The Prelude this Saturday, then experience The Pre Fixe Performance in full this October. Tickets are available at the link in our bio. taken in First Church of the Brethren Chicago by @kopanoart
