We finally made it to Mt. Lemmon this winter! ❄️💫 What a great little trip! Misha got to see the snow for the first time this season (he’s been curious about it, reading all our winter books and whatnot). Last time he saw it was in Russia when we were visiting in 2025, but he was only slightly older than 1 y.o., and I’m sure he doesn’t remember much (except maybe deep down in his heart). However, he will talk about this family outing for a long time! 🤩

The weather was beautiful up there - not too cold, around 14-15°C (57-59°F). We didn’t even need our borrowed snowsuit and thrifted boots! There wasn’t a ton of snow, but it was enough for us to play with. The vistas and landscapes were breathtaking as always, and even more so with the addition of snow 🪄

Mt. Lemmon is such a unique place, and we’re really lucky to have it right at hand (if you consider 1.45-2 hours “at hand,” which I do, coming from a megalopolis!). It’s like a time machine in terms of climate and biome 🔮 It transfers you to faraway lands without having to travel long distances or spend a big buck. Love it! 🤍

Also, a major life hack - take a day off and go there during the week (NOT on the weekend!). The difference is TREMENDOUS (no lines at cafés, more parking spots)! Your level of enjoyment will rise exponentially. Ours sure did.

We’ll continue this family tradition next year and will try to level up by renting something and staying there overnight. Mt. Lemmon stole our hearts 💙

P.S. If you want more inspiration and tips on the Sonoran Desert’s rhythms of the year, check out my book, A Year in Tucson: A Seasonal Living Almanac (link in bio). 💫 taken in Mt. Lemmon by @kornilovsky1

Our spontaneous vacation on the Pacific coast isn’t over yet, but I can’t wait to share some joyful moments from this trip! 📸🌴🌅🌊 It’s a big tropical adventure for us, as we’re traveling to the beach with our toddler boy for the very first time. We may have been a little unprepared in some ways, but we’re learning so quickly!

Misha gazes at the lush, noisy extravaganza of nature and the magnificent foamy waves with eyes wide open… It’s such a wonderful learning and sensory experience for him, too. We’re beyond grateful to be here (though I’m definitely more tired than usual at the end of each day 🥲).

More details and snapshots to come!

Some highlights of our phenomenal family trip to Houston: business (applying for a Russian visa) and pleasure (a city bus tour with a real guide, seeing Rene Magritte and other masterpieces at the Menil Collection museum, feasting our eyes on unusual magic beasts the Downtown Aquarium, driving through some cosy nostalgic residential neighbourhoods with 1950s (+-) houses, eating out, and, of course, coffee shop crawling 😏)… Houston, you did impress us!!! We shall be back for more (visas and fun 😁!). taken in Houston, Texas by @kornilovsky1

Baby’s first trip to the forest! Misha looooved the outdoors, provided the temperature was super pleasant and moderate, BELOW 30C (86F) for sure! When your LO is so young (ours is 7 m.o.), the trick is to get going when it’s baby’s time to nap. This way, you won’t have to entertain or distract them throughout the whole drive (and they won’t be cranky/crying… I don’t know about your situation but our son is not a big fan of being in the car seat, to put it mildly!). Do your homework and research in advance some EASY trails to hike with your child (unless you’re experienced and advanced and not afraid of some elevation and breaking a sweat). We made a mistake and bet on the Rose Canyon Lake hike but the parking was full… (it was Saturday, duuuh!). We were a bit bummed out, confused and didn’t know where to go (of course, there was no signal to look things up…). We ended up driving up to Marshall Gulch (close to the famous Cookie Cabin) - there’s a picnic area and a few trails marked as moderate on All Trails app. But there is a biiiiig difference between easy and moderate trails 😅 even tho it was really picturesque - there’s a creek, lots of shade, beautiful huge trees and ancient rock formations, the trail itself seemed too challenging and risky, we didn’t want to climb any rocks/slip/fall with a young baby in our arms! So we turned around and just walked the paved road amidst the forest to the Cookie Cabin and back. Despite some cars passing by, it was still great and we had out little family adventure ❤️🏕️✨ Our son enjoyed the weather, the smell of pines, the breathtaking tall trees that he saw for the first time in such density and quantity… 🌳🌲 However, next time we’ll be more prepared 🙈 #mtlemmon #tucsonwithbaby #tucsonwithkids #arizonawithkids #tucsonmom #beattheheat taken in Mt. A little compilation of the first half a year with our precious baby 🧸 (a ton of videos are still in my phone, it was almost impossible to pick). Misha. Michael. The barrel of silly, the bundle of joy, the screecher creature, little man, Baby Baby. We still pinch each other sometimes and say - can you believe we have a son? Dreams come true. taken in Marana, Arizona by @kornilovsky1
