When asked about my birthday, I always say it's the day Japan lost the war. At the same time, if I say it a little differently, it's the day Japan decided to stop fighting the war and eventually bringing an end to the killing of innocent people. Japan has not participated in a war since. Japan has lots of issues, but I think this is a principle we can sincerely and proudly continue to uphold. I personally really do not understand why some people think it's ok to do things that could potentially kill innocent people. I hope Japan will never do anything like that ever again. and yeah that's what I'm thinking on my birthday by @kotokozue

Joining @partchensemble was such a fascinating experience. It felt like its own festival!

Figuring out the music (and rewiring it) and modifying a koto for this special piece took quite a while. I enjoyed the process, and I was so excited when I finally reached the point where I could actually practice, because that meant it was no longer a puzzle-solving phase, but the music and the koto became ready to make music 😆

The best part, though, was rehearsing and performing with such incredible musicians, and even getting to watch them play so closely! I had mesmerizing moments every day.

Thank you @johnoschneider so much for having me in the ensemble. I'd absolutely love to be back again if an opportunity arises 💕

We had a pleasure of providing music for the opening reception of an art exhibition, Sound of Water: Feminine Expressions of Fluidity, at @descansogardens . For the exhibition's theme of water, we performed a selection of water-related pieces, including a work by a female composer to celebrate female artists in the koto music. We also wore water-themed kimono. It was such a beautiful evening with lots of different shades and forms of blues throughout the exhibition and gardens. We even got to take a photo with the artist, @yumikoglover in front of her artwork!🥰🥰 We sincerely appreciate Descanso Gardens and @mehermcarthur , the exhibition curator, for thinking of us and placing their trust in us. It was an honor to be part of such a meaningful and inspiring event!! 💙🩵💙🩵
