Inktober starts tomorrow. I am hoping to stay interested enough to keep drawing for 31 days. Join me in making a drawing a day. For me sometimes drawing is like constipation, eat via the eyes, digest via the mind and body, and eventually, that shit will come out. Some will like how it smells, but most will experience it for what it is. by @kouayang

I'm going through the stuff I've collected from my mom and my grandma, tossing anything i won't be able to use and won't be able to donate. At one point this stuff kept the family fed and in a small way paved a way forward for me to have an education. We can see that it wasn't just stuff, they created a system, from sourcing materials to processing, to creating a product to be sold. This process was not unique to my family it most likely existed in a lot of Hmong households in the 60s-90s. My grandma and mom have an intimate understanding of fabric, especially ripping them into strips, folding, and sewing. This understanding of fabric more likely stems from our history with hemp and land, growing a plant, processing and transforming it into fabric. I am not afraid to part with this stuff, I wanted to spend more time looking and to think about them before I decide what to do next. There's weight to this stuff and they've become a part of my life's work-art. by @kouayang

unemployed, but hopefully this is a blessing in disguise. Maybe this a sign that i should finally start selling artwork or artwork adjacent stuff, under a pseudonym in order to create a healthier pivot to operating a business. by @kouayang

Theater Mu invited me to do an installation in the lobby of the Gremlin Theatre. This installation is on view alongside the show 'Hmong Futures' by Katie Ka Vang. Purchase your tickets at theatermu.org. It'll be on view April 9-May 3rd, 2026.

What a honor to showcase my work alongside Katie Ka Vang. Thank you for the work that you do. When I went back to the lobby to photograph the work, you were curled up sleeping on the couch, I hope you get plenty of sleep soon!

Thank you to Morgen, my brother Kou and my boyfriend John for your assistance in the installation. taken in Gremlin Theatre by @kouayang
