This day is etched into my memory forever. I worked just over two miles north of the Twin Towers. We had the news on at work. When the second plane hit, Nick Jones ran in yelling, “this is not an accident.” I left work close to 10 am and walked across town on 14th Street. The peoples’ faces. The people I passed looked you in the eye almost pleading. Their grief was raw and they were searching - for meaning or connection. It plays in my mind in slow motion. I remember armed guards standing across all the Avenues at 14th. You had to show your ID to go south. I remember the smoke and dust in the air. I remember the collective weight of sadness and utter disbelief. I feel it today and I think part of that grief is rooted in - have we learned nothing? To know this man is to love him. He is a kind, thoughtful and loving friend, son, brother (brother-in-law), uncle, father and husband. He is a hard worker often digging into the reserves to find resilience. He is supportive and adventurous and making him laugh brings me great joy. Hi, friends. We could use your help. We are in need of two locations for filming in Middle Tennessee in January. One is an empty warehouse-type location, perhaps an ‘Elks lodge” or church basement look. Basically a 1920s-era community-type room. The other is a split-level, upstairs-office space in a warehouse—we only need to shoot up at this space, not inside the office/room at the top. I’ve posted some reference images here. AUDITIONS for “What Departs With Us” are Wednesday, September 3, 6pm-8:30pm, in Berry Hill . Video submissions are fine too (by Sept 6). No monologues, sides from the script will be provided in advance and do not need to be memorized. This is an independent feature film, with many roles available. (with characters whose ages are from ages 6 - 70’s !)Sharing this first with friends, but auditions are open to all. Message me with your email, and I will send details, plus a link to access the breakdown and all the sides. Filming happens in and around Nashville on Oct 5 - 20, many roles just needed one day.
