Earlier yesterday morning, my beloved grandmother - Teresa Marie Pamfilis, transitioned from this life. My everything is gone. She was one of the most spectacular people to ever grace the face of this planet. A free thinker, she was wise and curious and generous - illustrious qualities derived from a challenging life conquered. Equal parts radiant and rebel, she was the blueprint.

If you know me, you know that my Grammy was, is, the most important figure in my life. It is rare to find in a grandmother a best friend, a surrogate mother, a mentor, a collaborator (co-conspirator), a bruiser, a hero, a girlfriend. She has been the greatest supporter, most stalwart protector, most understanding advisor, and most loving friend to me. She has made me everything that I am, in ways that I am aware of and in ways that surpass me; I do not know who I am in her absence. The world’s axis feels a degree off, as if the entire planet has shifted in a way so inconsequentially that only I can feel it.

I can only aspire to develop a percentage of her grace, optimism, consistency, forgiveness, ineffability, and strength. For all that feels lost right now, I am grateful that she has given me something to pursue: I hope that I can make her proud and become a semblance of the person that she was to me. I don’t know which words to leave her with, because goodbye is not forever. For now, these will do: ‘I love you, I love you, I love you.’ by @kpamfilis
