Andre Gallego, a transportation aide in Gastroenterology at #KPBaldwinPark, is great at getting patients where they need to go. It seems he's just as skilled in saving lives.

Andre had just transported a patient to his car when he spotted a man slumped over on a bench. Two doctors were already on the scene, but Andre rushed over to help them. When he heard one physician say, "no heart rate," Andre did far more than just help. He took over.

He called a Code Blue and then jumped in to perform CPR. Andre was still performing CPR when the code team arrived. He did even more by helping transport the patient to the Emergency Department. #EverydayHeroes by @kplacounty

Supporting students means supporting healthier communities. 💙

Kaiser Permanente Downey Medical Center recently awarded a $20,000 grant to the Cerritos College Foundation to support Falcon’s Nest, the college’s basic needs program.

The funding will help students facing financial hardship with needs including housing assistance, gas cards, and utility assistance, helping remove barriers that can make it harder to stay focused on their education.

❤️ Sometimes the most important lessons come from personal experience.

As a mother of four, she planned to get everyone their flu shots together. But between work, school and everyday responsibilities, it kept getting postponed.

Then she and all four of her children got influenza and became very ill.

What her youngest said afterward has stayed with her: “We will never miss a flu shot again. Your doctor was right, Mom.”

This year, the family made time for their flu shots. 💉❤️

Preparing tomorrow's health care professionals starts today.

In partnership with Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles, West LA College recently launched its first Licensed Vocational Nursing program, helping create new pathways for aspiring nurses and strengthen the future health care workforce.

The event featured remarks from Lilit Zibari, senior vice president and area manager of Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles, as well as Dr. Matthew Jordan, WLAC’s interim president, students, and community leaders celebrating this important milestone.

Across Los Angeles County, our teams came together to give back to our local communities as part of Kaiser Permanente Southern California’s second Regional Day of Service.

From helping families experiencing food insecurity to supporting veterans, youth and local community spaces, our volunteers spent the day lending a hand where it was needed most.

In Panorama City, volunteers sorted and distributed food and meal kits to more than 100 families. In West Los Angeles, volunteers built and filled 8 planter boxes at the Veterans Garden, a regenerative garden that supports food security for local veterans. And in Whittier, volunteers painted two murals and assembled 4 new benches for the Boys & Girls Club.

These are just a few of the ways our teams showed up for our communities across LA County. Thank you to our volunteers and community partners for making the day meaningful. Together, we’re building healthier communities. by @kplacounty

📚💙 A good book can make any day a little brighter.

At Kaiser Permanente Diamond Bar Medical Offices, Dr. Jennifer Nguyen is bringing a love of reading to members with Little Free Libraries. Located in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine departments, these spaces offer free books for children and adults to enjoy and take home.

This initiative continues to grow thanks to the support of our Pediatrics nursing team and a generous book donation from Nicole Martinez and the Liberty School of Creativity and Innovation. Together, they’re helping create opportunities for learning, imagination, and community — one book at a time. by @kplacounty
