POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The majority of the time my tattoos are drawn as custom and collaborative pieces for their wearer. Sometimes they’re designs intended to be salable to folks who love collecting flash tattoos. Once in a blue moon I draw something that begins to blur the line of my professional art and my personal art, that I become particularly attached to, and find myself hiding away from folks browsing my available designs. This is one of those tattoos and I’m so glad it found a home with @allheart.training . Thank you (always!) for trusting me and allowing me the space to be creative with you!

A small token of appreciation I made for the man who gave me the most meaningful gift of my life. Years ago, my mentor and friend @harley_goodson saw something in me worth investing in and I have him to thank for instilling the values I hold dear and opening the door to a career that fulfills me in every way.

Over the years that Harley allowed me to hover over his shoulder I learned so much more than I could have ever hoped for. Beyond being an exceptionally talented artist, he is a natural born leader, a man of the utmost integrity, and is committed to continuously learning and growing as an artist and a person. He never seeks external accolade or admiration for his efforts and instead pushes himself to meet and exceed his own personal standards daily. He imparted onto me a great reverence for the history and art of tattooing as well as an enormous respect and gratitude for the folks who trust us to make their dreams come true. I am the person and tattooer I am because of everything he taught me, through his efforts or simply by witnessing his way of being.

Please give Harley a visit if you’re ever in Sedona. His shop @tattoosedona is a time capsule in the best of ways. It looks, smells and sounds exactly like a tattoo shop is meant to, with years of history all over the walls. And if you find yourself lucky enough to receive a tattoo from Harley you will walk away with a work of art that comes from decades of love and dedication to an age-old craft that I am so proud to carry on.

It’s been seven days since since this earth angel made her way up to heaven. Though the world feels a little dimmer without the rhinestone-sparkle of Miss Dolly Parton, I am comforted knowing her legacy lives on in so many ways. I have been endlessly inspired by her quick wit, strong values, boundless kindness, philanthropy, education advocacy, and pouring back into her own community. A thousand thank yous to @its.karly_ for trusting me with the opportunity to memorialize this legend. I hope wearing her image brings you all the luck, love, prosperity, and joy that Dolly has spread to so many hearts.
