Goodbye 2025! This was the first year of my life where I truly worked more than anything else. It was not the best year of my life- in fact it honestly has been one of the hardest years of my adult life (nothing compares to the misery of being a teenager, so at least I have that). My grandma died this year, which affected me so deeply. Her loss still just feels like an empty aching hole in my heart. I also got into that crazy Julian car accident where I hydroplaned off the road 😩. Going through those hard things always shows you the people who love and care for you though, and I have been incredibly grateful for that. I have made new friends this year which I am so excited about. Especially since my autism diagnosis a few years ago, I have this fear in my mind of meeting and talking to people. That I’m such an obviously peculiar human that new people won’t want to be friends with me. It has stopped me from socializing and talking to people. This is the year I need to let go of that. I have been so trapped by my comfort zone this year. I have felt so much fear in my heart! No longer! I am going to push myself out of my comfort zone this year. I did not see the growth in myself last year that I wanted to see, and it’s because my personal experience has become so anxious and internalized. I am always such an outwardly positive person, truly my usual baseline is contentment and peacefulness. This year felt like a roller coaster compared to my past few years of life. Thank you to everyone who was a part of my crazy existence this year. I am truly so blessed to have the career I have, to know the people I do. I am so blessed to have so many opportunities to continue to grow. I have felt the care of so many people recently. I know I am not alone. This year I want to learn how to be a better person, and a better friend. I want to get out of my head and into the present moment. I am so full of love for this whole earth and everything and everyone on it. This year will be better! I am choosing that every day! 💚💚✨ by @krashayshay

RFK Jr. believes humans only hold worth if they can pay taxes, write poetry, use the bathroom solo, maintain a relationship, and hold a career. He believes that autism and high support needs destroy families. He believes that autism is an epidemic disease caused by chemicals in vaccines.

These things are lies.

Humans hold innate worth regardless of what they are able to contribute monetarily to a capitalist society. A life with supportive loved ones is never lacking. Disabled people with the highest of support needs contribute their personality, companionship, friendship, talents, humor, love, and perspective.

These things are what being a human is about. The empathy, time, love, and experiences we share with one another are what matter- not how awesome our careers are, or if we got a big white wedding, or got to fly on a plane to Peru.

Just because a life is different, does not mean it cannot be full of joy, pain, excitement, sadness, love, and peace. A life different than yours is still a life worth living. Disabled children deserve to live their lives, and their families deserve support.

When families are torn apart “by autism” or other disabilities, the reality is that it’s not the autism at all.

It’s:
-a lack of serious research into disabilities, especially in girls
-a lack of social services that provide in-home care so parents can have a break
-a lack of safe care facilities that aren’t actively abusing children
-a lack of doctors with the time to actually care deeply about each individual child they see
-a lack of empathy around disability, including direct judgment and attacks from the general public due to a child acting differently

Of course health of Americans is terrible. Of course we need limits on chemicals in food and research into vaccines (which there is research into vaccines) However, autism has existed long before McDonald’s. It existed before the measles vaccine. It used to not have a name, but it existed. It is highly genetic.

I am an autistic person who pays taxes, has been on dates, written poetry, and played sports- but even if I couldn’t do those things my life would still be worth living.

Happy World Autism Day from your very own AuDHDer! (That means I have BOTH adhd and autism! Package deal!) As we move through this month of autism acceptance, I hope the world will make space and show up for every child and adult who is autistic not just during April but throughout the whole year. It is so important that we fight against anti-disability rhetoric. That we ensure every person has access to the services and support they need. Autism can bring many blessings but it is also an uphill battle. (I am suffering through massive physical overstimulation as I type this- I had wanted to make a video for today but my brain simply would not allow it. 💚💚 Have a picture of baby me holding a business meeting with some beautifully aligned stuffed animals instead 💚💚 by @krashayshay
