51 years of Independence. A legacy of culture, identity and creativity. 🇵🇬

On 16 September 1975, Papua New Guinea became an independent nation. Today, as we celebrate 51 years of PNG Independence, we also celebrate the people, stories and cultures that continue to carry PNG forward.

This moment captures so much of the vision behind Island Haus Runway.

We are proud to announce one of IHR designers 🛖🌿🤎- a Papua New Guinean designer @delcoelegancebeautyshop . It truly takes a village & we can’t wait to shine light on hers - sharing her creativity and cultural expression through garments worn by models from different cultural backgrounds — coming together through fashion × models × culture × runway.

At IHR, we believe the runway can be more than a place to showcase clothing. It can be a meeting place for cultures ..where our differences are not simply represented, but celebrated.

Our vision is to create a platform where Pacific, Australasian and multicultural communities can stand alongside one another, where designers are given space to tell their stories, and where fashion becomes a language that connects us.

Different faces.
Different cultures.
Different stories.
One runway.

Today, we especially honour Papua New Guinea and the incredible creativity, heritage and cultural diversity of its people.
