I’ve heard this one a lot:

“Editors who post how-to content don’t get clients.”

And honestly, I understand the point.

But I also think we need editors who are willing to teach.

Because not everyone watching your tutorial is looking to hire an editor. Some people are watching because they’re trying to learn, improve, or simply figure out where to start.

And if my content can help someone become a better editor, I’ll take that as a win. 🤍

But what do you think? Can an editor teach AND still attract clients? 👇🏽

I wanted to explain J-cuts and L-cuts… but I didn’t want to make another boring timeline tutorial.

So I made a mini short film instead.

Every audio transition in this scene was intentional — the J-cut pulls you into the next shot, while the L-cut lets the previous audio carry into the next moment.

Because sometimes the best way to understand an editing technique is to see it tell a story.

If you’re learning video editing, watch it again and see if you can spot the J-cut and L-cut
