POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Well, that was easily the best summer of my life. Montreal is one hell of a city, and I'm incredibly lucky to be surrounded by such amazing people that i get to call my friends. Got to attend most @ferias.mtl events, which always leave me with a deep sense of joy, community and peace of mind. Had the chance to release an amazing collaboration with @chandaandthepassengers on legendary new york record label and dj duo extraordinaire @loveinjection.nyc . Lastly, i got to enjoy lots of music with friends whether in the studio, djing or attending events around town! Here's to many more 🍻

Scenes from @ferias.mtl, our friends up north in Montreal, who threw what looked like a dream block party last weekend. On the first slide, they’re playing the new @kridelka x @chandaandthepassengers joint at home, where it was born + made. It feels very heart full to be (digital) witness to these, so extra love to Nicholas on the World of Echoes discord for sharing the moment.

Guthrie and Alina of Ferias have been kindred spirits and have something really special going on. If you’re heading up to Montreal, make sure you pop into their parties 😘

Lastly, goooo grab the record: Give it to ‘em! is out in the world so you can grab your copy at your local record shop or via our bandcamp, link’s in bio. taken in Mario Park by @kridelka

Kridelka is a Belgian and French artist who explores the evolution of House music from Disco within the New York scene of the 1980s and 1990s. Inspired by venues like the Paradise Garage, Club Shelter, and Zanzibar, Kridelka blends garage house, soulful house, and deep house to create captivating and funky sets, maintaining a strong connection to the jazz, funk, and soul that originally shaped these musical styles.

Chanda & The Passengers is a 7-piece powerhouse blending funk, soul, and R&B into a sound all their own — powered by the silky, jazz-soaked vocals of Montreal’s Chanda T Holmes. It all started with a Craigslist ad that worked in a big way, bringing together funky musicians from Canada and the US. Their new track “Give it to ‘em!” sees them joining forces with fellow Montrealer Kridelka delivering a punchy disco anthem out now.

“Give it to ‘em!” was produced by Julien Kridelka, who gives Chanda and the Passengers’ original track a vigorous modern disco sound with all the right ingredients: rippling bass, slick rhythm guitar, punchy horns and a tight, grooving drum track. Chanda’s lyrics are uplifting and worldly-wise in the tradition of the great soul divas, delivered with passion and plenty of attitude.

Nudging the song in a slightly housier direction is guest remixer Colleen “Cosmo” Murphy, who shifts the emphasis to a well-fitted four-on-the-floor beat while retaining all the energy of Kridelka’s production. With an instrumental and a drama-building dub included, there are plenty of options for DJs to make this one their own in the mix.
“Give it to ‘em!” will be out exclusively on vinyl September 18th with all the attention to sonic detail Love Injection is known for, before getting a wider digital release this fall. The 12–inch contains the original Kridelka mix, along with the full spread of Cosmodelica mixes (vocal, instrumental and dub). taken in Le Système by @kridelka

Cut at the studio in Montreal and built layer by layer (see full track personnel below). GIVE IT TO ‘EM! is out this Friday and here’s a look behind the scenes at how it came together. Getting musicians in a room together yields a certain kind of spiritual magic that only those who experienced it can really grasp. It’s its own creation story. What we, the audience, hear is as close as we’ll get to that moment in time is an imprint of their collective energy.
