This year, grateful for myself, I took it easy on my expectations. I made three separate proteins for each person, eased up on sides and bought dessert. I had a moment of peace sitting at dinner being grateful for getting past the last decade. Just to sit with how things are, and not how I wish they were, is sometimes just anxiety inducing. For me this long weekend is to celebrate the love of fall, good food and grateful that I get to spend one more day with my parents. #givingthanks2026 by @krisesque_life

Poetry (in Brief), the reading series, returns from our summer break with Horror(ible) Women live on October 24th at Noon CST on Zoom. Let our invited readers scare you and then join in if you like and share your own micro-horror during our short open mic (open to all people)! We are partnering with The Morgue Literary Magazine for this one ghouls!

After Poetry (in Brief), on the same Zoom link, we will host a special Three Women. Three Books. at 1p.m. CST. Help us celebrate books launched this year by: Jhané, K.M. Hanslik, & L. Rose!

Both recordings will be on our YOUTUBE channel if you can’t make it live.

Our events always run less than one hour fyi. by @krisesque_life

Tomorrow, September 30, is #truthandreconciliationday🧡 #orangeshirtday #everychildmatters and so I will be going dark on socials to take some time to reflect and learn on what this day is meant to be about. I started this novel, Treat them as Buffalo @atayookee before dinner and have been captured into the story already. It was next on my tbr and it’s perfect for one of the works I will be reading. #metisauthor #indigenousreads by @krisesque_life
