John D Rockefeller was declared a state guest of Kashmir.

He stayed at my great-grandfather’s house instead.

Six generations here. Not as guests. Hosts.

@sxp.world isn’t a business idea. It’s a family instinct I finally had a reason to use.

Kashmir, India

What the Jantar Mantar protests are actually about: the voter list, and whether your name is still on it.

Since June 2025, the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) has taken about 13 crore names off India’s voter rolls. Many were people who had died, moved or were listed twice. The question is the rest.

The protests in Delhi, led by the @cockroachjantaparty and joined by opposition parties, demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The Commission says the revision removes duplicate and ineligible names, and that every decision was unanimous. The Supreme Court upheld the SIR as legal in May, and on 5 October declined to suspend the CEC.

I was not at Jantar Mantar, and I don’t know whether any result changed. I do know it takes two minutes to check.

To check your name: electoralsearch.eci.gov.in. Search with the EPIC number on your voter ID, or by your name and your father’s name. The Voter Helpline app does the same. by @krishananand.31

For the ones who did everything right, and still feel something is missing.

I keep hearing that millennials are having a midlife crisis. I don’t think that’s what this is.

I think a whole generation is finding out, at the same time, that success and fulfilment are two different things. We built the careers. We made the money. We bought the things we were supposed to want. And somewhere in our thirties and forties a quieter question arrived: do I actually want the life I’ve built?

It isn’t burnout. It isn’t ingratitude. It isn’t a breakdown. It’s what happens when the old definition of success runs out and nobody hands you a new one.

My version of that question took me out of consulting and back to the mountains in Kashmir.

Which slide was yours? by @krishananand.31

Kashmir Government tried to cap the Wazwan, its legendary wedding feast, at seven dishes in 2004.
At my grandfather’s wedding, they served 105.
If you’ve never had a Kashmiri Wazwan: a dozen or more dishes, served in a fixed order, four people to one plate, cooked by master chefs (wazas) who get booked months before wedding season.
The 2004 order came with food inspectors and a law. After more than 3,000 suggestions, a revised version took effect that November.
What’s the most dishes you’ve been served at a single wedding? I need a number for my grandfather’s defence. by @krishananand.31

Apparently we’re now flying for dinner.

The @cntravellerindia Condé Nast Traveller x @districtupdates Top Restaurant Awards 2026 came out this week. Everyone started counting which city got how many.

I think we’re counting the wrong thing.

Kasauli. Shillong. Karaikudi. Goa.

Restaurants are becoming destinations in themselves. We used to decide where we were going and then find somewhere to eat. Increasingly, we find somewhere to eat and work backwards.

My father did this long before it was fashionable. I inherited the problem.

So I want to know: what restaurant in India would you actually get on a plane for? by @krishananand.31

Wazwan is a Kashmiri feast. You sit on the floor, four to a plate, with no menu and no say in what to order. I’ve spent years failing to explain it to people who’ve never had it, so this is the short version.

Send this to the one person you’d want next to you on that floor. Then tell me which part sounded the strangest. by @krishananand.31

At 9,000 feet, water boils at ninety degrees. Everything in this carousel is what we did about that.

Two hundred kilos of ingredients and equipment, flown into Sonamarg and rebuilt on a riverbed by @espressosanyday and @seenattopbanana . A machine borrowed from a cafe in Srinagar that shut for four days to lend it to us. A blend that only exists at that altitude, made for the Secret Charter and served nowhere else.

Chef @tarannumsehgal filleted a trout out of the river two hours before it reached the table. @iamjonasax ran the bar with a river as his back bar. The plates came from @lagavi_official in Jaipur, two tonnes of them, the same ones used at their cafe in Gurgaon.

A few select founders and funders were nominated by @thecharter.official . This is some of what they got.

That’s how we host at @sxp.world

Save this if you’d fly a cafe up a mountain too. by @krishananand.31

The room was small. The year had been long.
Fifty operators, seventy-two hours, pitching treated as bad manners.
What actually got said is staying in the valley.
These are what they hear three hundred and sixty-two days.
Everything worth repeating is staying in the valley. This is the rest. @sxp.world X @thecharter.official by @krishananand.31

Nobody goes to Sun Valley to do a deal. That is the whole reason deals happen there.

Allen & Company have run it every July since 1983. Chad Hurley went in 2006 and Google bought YouTube three months later for $1.65 billion. Disney and ABC. AOL and Time Warner. Bezos and the Washington Post. No stage, no panels, no press, and an agenda of hiking, rafting and golf.

I spent three years building the opposite. Three hundred people at a time in ballrooms in Bombay, with a schedule and a step and repeat. It took me far too long to work out what was actually wrong with it, which is that the founders and investors in those rooms were never short of access. They meet everybody. What they are short of is a room where meeting someone costs them something.

So in the first week of September we took fifty of them to Sonamarg. Twenty-five founders from seed to Series B, ten investors, ten who have already built at scale, and five with nothing to do with startups. Nobody applied. Every one of them was nominated by somebody else.

Three days, no phone signal, and nobody was allowed to sell anything to anybody.

If you have been in a room that genuinely worked, I would like to know what they took away to make it work. by @krishananand.31

I went looking for a photograph of somebody working and there isn’t one.

Eight photographers, three days, Six thousand two hundred and fifty frames. No laptop, no notebook, no whiteboard, nobody presenting to anybody. I did not plan that and none of us noticed it at the time.

Most of us have built a working life out of rooms designed to look productive. An agenda, a stage, a deck, a follow up email nobody reads. Then the three days that actually moved something had none of it, and the only thing anyone was asked to do was leave their shoes at the door.

I do not think the work stopped mattering. I think we have the order wrong. You do not put people in a room to get an outcome. You build the room properly and the outcome turns up two months later, between two people who had never met on the Thursday.

If you have been in one that worked, I would like to know what they took away.
