🙏🏽 #80 seems like a good reason to have a piece of cake in her honour …. by @krishmajumdar

Humbled to receive an honorary Doctor of Letters (DLitt) from @universityofbristol nearly 30 years after I graduated from there studying English and Drama. A magical trip down memory lane to visit the drama department and meet current students. Inspiring to see the current students graduate.

It was a pleasure to present the Eastern Eye ACTA Award for Film, TV & Drama - Best Female Actor to Aasiyah Shah for her compelling performance in Believe Me. A truly well-deserved win.

A lovely evening hosted impeccably by @therealnihal. Such a brilliant celebration of South Asian talent. The special award went to the inspirational @anish.kapoor

Here’s the first look of Nicola Coughlan and Joe Cole in #IAmHelen coming later this year to @Channel4

Created, written and directed by BAFTA-winning filmmaker Dominic Savage and produced by Me + You Productions, the latest instalment of the critically acclaimed BAFTA-winning anthology series explores the experience of womanhood within a world shaped by masculine power, aggression and control.

Developed by both Dominic Savage and Nicola Coughlan, the story examines the pressures and expectations placed on women whilst confronting the realities of toxic masculinity and the damage it can create in modern relationships.

Cannot wait to share this with the world…

Still thinking about The P Word at @bushtheatre which I saw last night.
Go and see it.

It's heart-shatteringly beautiful, properly funny, and it left me in pieces in the best possible way — a love story between two gay Pakistani men that somehow holds tenderness and fury in the same breath. @thewaleedakhtar has written something extraordinary, Waleed and @eshalladi are magnificent in it. Directed with such delicate care by Anthony Simpson-Pike. The beautiful score by @nirajchag adds to the magic.

And it could not feel more urgent. While this is the conversation our country is having about migration and asylum, this play does the bravest thing theatre can do — it puts a human being in front of you and dares you to look away. You can't.

An Olivier-winning play, born on this stage and back stronger than ever.
So proud of everyone at the Bush. This is exactly what theatre is for.

It's on until 27th June
